With annual revenue of €1.8 billion, Glanbia Ireland has 11 processing plants, 53 agri branches and over 1,800 employees. 

 

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Consumer division of Glanbia Ireland, for a Market Development Manager based in Atlanta, Georgia.

 

This is a pivotal new role within the business as Glanbia Ireland seeks to extend its international footprint across consumer brands into the US market. The role will be key to establishing Glanbia Ireland’s consumer portfolio in the market and forming a productive and collaborative relationship with our distributor on the ground.

 

This position will set the tone for an extending team in the region.  Therefore the role will have scope to develop into a broader senior role in the medium term.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Working closely with the appointed lead distributor, launch Glanbia Ireland’s new cheese brand into the US
  • Develop a strong understanding of distributor’s organizational structure and use this knowledge to manoeuvre effectively within that organization.
  • Based out of the distributor’s offices in Atlanta, establish a productive and collaborative working relationship with the lead distributor ensuring that GI’s new branded range is given adequate focus and support
  • Execute successful and profitable new product launches and merchandising programs.
  • Communicate emerging market needs and requirements for product development.
  • The role will develop to involve, in tandem with distributor, executing an annual calendar of visits with existing and prospective new customers of the distributor.
  • The role will also require participation in other scheduled business reviews with customers.
  • As the role develops - to cultivate and manage of profitable relationships with priority customers - developing top-to-top relationships.
  • Budget Management.
  • Track monthly and quarterly sales volumes vs. budget for the Region.
  • Accurately forecast demand for region.
  • Work with the distributor in the development of annual business plan/budget by customer/by SKU. This includes: Quantity by SKU, ad or promotional target periods with volume and price objectives, budget customer visits, special programs or marketing strategies.
  • Prepare and deliver distributor business review and category performance presentations.
  • Work closely with the Ireland based US team to inform and advise on development of strategy for the region.
  • Stay informed and up-to-date on industry trends and advances.
  • Represent GI at annual tradeshows and conferences.
  • Always perform tasks in a manner that protects and promotes food safety.
  • Cooperate with managers and other leaders to ensure all Company legal and ethical requirements are met.

 

 

Key Requirements:

  • Minimum third level qualification in business or marketing
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in a commercial role with at least 5 years’ experience in the US grocery business.
  • Knowledge of customer service, sales principles and concepts, and key-customer sales methods and practices in the US
  • A proven ability to recognize opportunities for business expansion within key-customers.
  • Ability to create reports and metrics to track results and prepare and deliver executive presentations.
  • Ability and confidence to interact with senior management across a variety of functions and organisations.
  • Results oriented and KPI driven.
  • Motivated and driven to progress.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
