E-Services Manager


An opportunity has arisen within Glanbia Business Services(GBS) for an E-Services Manager based in our offices in Aurora, Illinois.  This is a permanent position and reports to the Director of Global Technology Services.




Glanbia plc operates a suite of world-class SAP, Oracle and SQL-Server based Business Systems (both on premise and cloud-based) to support the business in reaching its objectives. The E-Services manager is responsible for a team which designs, develops and supports middleware solutions that allow these business systems exchange data with each other and with external trading partners (e.g. customers, suppliers, 3Pls, banks).


Key elements of the role

  • Managing a geographically dispersed team (currently 6) of E-Services analysts and contractors
  • Provide technical guidance and direction to the E-Services team and, where appropriate, to trading partners.
  • Work in close collaboration with GBS IT project managers to identify and deliver any requirements their business projects may have for E-Services expertise.
  • Work in close collaboration with other IT service owners and external contractors to ensure E-Services technical platforms are maintained according to GBS patching, upgrading, security and retirement standards
  • Maintain a 3-year rolling strategic road-map for the services provided by the team
  • Agree and monitor annual revenue and capex budgets for the team
  • Compile and agree costed estimates with business units for new work requested outside of their standard annual GBS IT levy.
  • Participate in the due diligence exercises as required, prior to the appointment of new IT service providers.

Requirements for the role


  • 3rd Level relevant technical qualification and senior operational experience in a globally dispersed organisation


Skills & experience

•             7 – 10 years’ experience in a multi-component SAP environment (including ECC6, BI, SAP PI/PO/CPI)

•             A detailed working knowledge of EDI, SFTP and AS2 technologies

•             A demonstrable ability and track record in implementing middleware solutions

•             Demonstrable experience in managing technical teams and negotiating with business users

•             Demonstrable experience in managing a geographically dispersed IT team (EMEA, USA, ASIA)

•             Experience in cultivating and maintaining a good working relationship with external service providers

•             Project prioritisation where regional, global and business priorities may conflict

•             Capex / revenue budget preparation and management

Technical competencies (All on Microsoft Windows platforms):


  • Proven experience in managing middleware platforms that connect with SAP ECC 6 – preferably PI/PO; SAP CPI an advantage



  • Good working knowledge of IBM Gentran Server and IBM Sterling B2Bi software applications
  • Previous experience in implementing solutions using the SFTP and AS2 communication protocols
  • Working knowledge of scripting tools such as Powershell



  • Occasional : EMEA, USA and other locations where Glanbia conducts its business
