Job/Project Summary:

This position supports the on-going Engineering and Operations activities on a daily basis, and works closely with the personnel in these departments. The main objective is to develop a practical application of the learning’s in the current field of study, however this position also will familiarize the individual with daily challenges or working in a manufacturing environment, and how to develop the interpersonal skills needed in that environment.


Learning Objectives:

  • Application of engineering curriculum to real business case scenarios
  • Interface with contractors and suppliers
  • Develop people management and people skill sets appropriate for business
  • Develop a working understanding of business and technical processes related to operations


Expected Outcomes:

Familiarization with general project management skills related to technical projects and gains a basic understanding of the engineering department’s role at GPN.


Job Responsibilities (listed in order of importance and/or time spent):

  • Provide assistance to engineering managers and project engineers
  • Develop project plans and schedules
  • Provide drafting assistance as required
  • Manage/Oversee trade contractors
  • Research new technologies and processes that can improve current operations


Basic Qualifications:

  • Actively pursuing an undergraduate degree in Engineering (ME, EE, ChE) or Engineering Technology
  • Experience building and maintaining relationships within a team
  • Clear written communication on strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and AutoCAD
