R&D Analytical Scientist –Fixed Term contract

Job Overview:

This role will report to the R&D Technical Manager of the AgriChemWhey research project, based in Lisheen, Moyne, Co. Tipperary. This role will provide analytical support for the monitoring of upstream, fermentation and down stream purification of dairy derived Whey. Working within the project team  this role will provide analytical, quality and  scientific support for the optimisation  of key stream and side-stream products and their processing technologies for fine molecule purification from lab to commercial scale.. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Hands on analysis and analytical method development of lab, pilot plant and commercial scale samples
  • Analytical method development, QC protocol writing, specification setting, sample analysis and product release as per QC GMP
  • Work within cross-functional teams across the project team to support project delivery.
  • Proactively identify and deliver analytical optimisations opportunities.
  • Keep technically abreast of relevant developments in the field to identify new opportunities. 
  • Work with Technical, Operations, commercial and QC teams to ensure seamless commercialisation and product release.

    Essential Criteria

  • 3rd Level Science degree preferably in Biochemistry/Biotechnology/Food Science.
  • 1-2 years experience in a wet chemistry/biochemistry role. 
  • Good technical, analytical  development, wet chemistry and QC skills are a must.
  • Ability to work within a cross-functional team.
  • Strong data analysis and attention to detail required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

    Desired Criteria

  • HPLC experience a distinct advantage.
  • Experience of Lean or Six Sigma
  • ISO 17025 experience or equivalent.
