About the position

As a member of the operational training team here at Glanbia Ireland, this person will work with our team of Subject Matter Experts to develop training that helps disseminate complex information into clear, concise courseware including eLearning, that is engaging, memorable and effective, which will be utilised by internal and external audiences. The role reports to the Training Coordinator and will be based in our Ballyragget facility. To be successful in this role, you must be able to demonstrate knowledge of adult learning theory, established eLearning methodologies, and courseware design and development skills from start to finish.

The Junior Instructional Designer will work closely with stakeholders across production, quality, EHS, engineering and services, and human resource functions. She/he will own the process of instructional design and course materials throughout their development and utilization lifecycle.


  • Create engaging instructional courses and content for Glanbia Ireland via My Learning that results in improved performance, increased effectiveness and engagement
  • Create all supporting materials and design elements for interactive and engaging eLearning development including, but not limited to; graphics, interviews, audio/video/stills production, template creation etc. in line with the Glanbia Ireland guidelines.
  • Edit, revise and improve content developed by SMEs to make it pedagogically sound and consumable for learner consumption and use
  • Ensure that the Glanbia Ireland mission, vision and values are intertwined in everything that is created and transfers effectively to learners
  • Consult with stakeholders to storyboard, map performance outcomes and delivery timescales to ensure deadlines are met adequately and resulting learners meet performance goals
  • A drive to continuously improve our eLearning offering


  • BA or BS degree in instructional design or related field  or suitable experience preferred

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Experience of instructional design end to end delivery (may include internships)
  • Exceptional written English including spelling and grammar
  • Demonstrated experience with common web and multimedia authoring tools (preferably: Articulate 360, or EnableNow)
  • Ability to gather and analyse the information needs of the audience
  • Storyboard, design and develop structured, effective and professional courses in a variety of modalities (SCORM, VILT, ILT etc)
  • Ability to edit video/audio
  • Strong interviewing and listening skills
  • Able to work independently and as a part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Self-starter
  • A creative mind-set with an appreciation for the visual including graphics and flow
  • Must have access to own transport and hold a valid driving license
  • Food processing/engineering knowledge an advantage
