Role Profile
Based in Ballyragget & reporting to the QC Laboratory Manager, this role will involve working with a dedicated team of technicians, Quality Managers and related staff to carry out a range of microbiological and chemical analysis of food products. The successful candidate will be based in the laboratories at Ballyragget.
Responsibilities
- Analysis of a range of dairy products including cheese, butter, dairy powders and in-process samples using approved microbiological methods;
- Microbiological methods including both traditional plate, ISO etc and rapid micro;
- Microbiological testing of water;
- Ensure compliance to the internationally recognised accreditation standard;
- Successful implementation and participation in internal and external proficiency testing;
- Using LIMS to carry out all lab activities;
- Review and document lab investigations as part of the Tirlán CAPA programme;
- Validation of accredited test methods and commissioning of new instruments / project works;
- Internal auditing of quality systems across the site;
- Sample management: sampling, receipt, preparation;
- Adhere to the Tirlán health and safety policies and contribute to its improvements;
- Complete other QC related business needs as/if they occur.
Requirements
- Third Level qualification in Food Science, Science or a related discipline;
- An ability to interpret test data and problem-solving skills;
- Good organisational ability;
- Desire to do further relevant training and improvement;
- Strong communication and IT skills;
- Proven ability to work with own initiative and within a team;
- Experience in project management and instrument qualification;
- Experience of LIMS, statistical analysis, Lean Manufacturing and 5S an advantage.
