Position Overview

Working within the Ballyragget site The Manufacturing Execution Systems Specialist will be part of the Operations team but with specialist skills in Manufacturing systems. You will assist in requirements gathering, creation of and implementation of technical Change requests for infrastructure and or application enhancements to the Ballyragget (MES) system. You will act as a champion for MES for the site ensuring its data integrety and enhanced useage within the site.


Essential Job Functions

  • Scoping, Defining, Requesting and Validating Change Requests for MES.
  • Coordinating site Resources in Supporting the MES Program of Work Activities.
  • MES lead for all projects that take place on the Ballyragget site
  • Collaboration with GBS for Site MES and driving support from same.
  • Site Point of Contact for MES Support Matters.
  • Promotion of MES Usage/Utilisation and Recognition on Site.
  • Training of Site MES Users.
  • Communication of Training Material Needs,
  • Ensure appropriate RACI for MES in all Changes Impacting MES (Plant/Process Changes, Automation Changes, SAP/LIMS/GAP Changes).
  • Submit requests for new User access to the MES system
  • Submit requests for new roles within the MES applications
  • Respond to “how to” requests from site MES users.
  • Provide assistance to large scale MES implementation projects as part of the technical team.
  • Maintain technical skills and knowledge of MES constantly updating them.
  • Provide expert knowledge to assist troubleshooting efforts in existing implementations.
  • Provide direction and assistance to site personnel and management teams in the effective use their MES systems.
  • Enable process owners with the implementation of opportunities for continuous improvement through the use of MES. E.g new reports Grids or Dashboards.
  • High Level Understanding of Manufacturing processes in order to provide useful information visualisations.
  • Understand Glanbia MES standards and report non-conformance in new or existing developments.
  • Comply with Glanbia Change processes when recommending or implementing system modifications or enhancements.



  • Degree in Computer Science, Maths or an Engineering dicipline.
  • Proven ability to Work with large data sets.
  • Excellent real world problem solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Driven to “have things right”
  • Ability to work with varying teams and groups across the site and to be Persuasive.
  • Attention to detail and diligence a must.
  • Passion for Continuous Improvement.
  • Self-Motivated, Proactive mentality.
  • Competence with common IT Applications. (Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Visio,Project)
  • Willing to Learn complex systems


Other Desired Skills/Abilities

  • Excellent understanding and Capability to employ the necessary Change Control measures required to protect MES.
  • Ability to quickly learn complex manufacturing processes.
  • Some exposure to Plant automation technologies & terminology, PLC, DCS, SCADA, HMI is an advantage
  • Flare for design of innovative process or data visualisations.
  • Understanding of Database technology.
  • Knowledge of SQL reporting services is an advantage
  • Aptitude for data analytics.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work on own initiative, dynamic, high energy.
  • Ability to meet demanding deadlines.


Specific MES Skills (Training will be provided)

  • Detailed understanding of IQS application operation
  • Detailed understanding and 1st line troubleshooting of IQS issues.
  • IP.21 Real time historian Admin
  • Orbis ODS administration (user roles and responsibilities and dashboard creation & Maintenance)
  • MES Interface Design and 1st line troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Site/Dairy Processing and the suite of Applications Supplying MES.
