Role Summary

Reporting to the Technical Manager, this position requires an experienced  Analytical Chemist /biochemist with in depth knowledge of  the analysis of organic acids, proteins, biomass and minerals and other small molecules  during processing at pilot and commercial scale,. Good technical, analytical  development, wet chemistry and QC skills is a must..

This role will provide in-depth state of the art analytical technologies for the monitoring of upstream and down stream purification processes and to provide  direction for process optimisation from pilot plant scale to commercial scale,    Working within the project team  but with key contacts into engineering, processing, quality  and the project management team, this role will provide analytical, quality and  scientific support for the optimisation  of key stream processing technologies for fine molecule purification from lab to commercial scale.. 


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and provide key analytical technologies and capability related to organic molecule  and  mineral analysis .
  • Exhibit aptitude for planning and delivering projects to completion.
  • Hands on analysis and analytical development  of Lab, pilot plant and commercial scale samples
  • Analytical method development, QC protocol writing, specification setting, sample analysis and product release as per QC GMP
  • Work within cross-functional teams across the project team to support project delivery.
  • Proactively identify and deliver analytical optimisations opportunities.
  • Keep technically abreast of relevant developments in the field to identify new opportunities. 
  • Work with Technical, Operations, commercial and QC teams to ensure seamless commercialisation and product release.


  • Science based qualification – 3rd level
  • Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology  
  • MSc or PhD.
  • Analytical Chemistry, Wet Chemistry Biotechnology, Biochemistry



  • Total of  5 years relevant experience in analytical chemistry, wet chemistry,  separation technologies  in industry, QC or academia.
  • QC experience, specification setting, protocol writing, product release.
  • Experience in some of the following technologies
  • Chromatographic technologies, ion exchange
  • Ion chromatography
  • HPLC with a range of detectors RI, UV-UIS, PDA, MS & EC, Electrophoresis
  • Wet chemistry, protein amino acid and vitamin analysis
  • Rapid sensing technologies
  • Analytical method development SOP writing
  • Report writing, Results driven
