This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in the start-up of Kilkenny Cheese Limited. Kilkenny Cheese is a joint venture between Tirlán and Dutch family business Royal A-ware, a 130-year-old company with strong positions in EU and global markets. The facility is to be located at a greenfield site adjacent to Tirlán’s specialised nutrition facility at Belview, Co Kilkenny.

Role Summary
Based in Belview in South Kilkenny the role reports to the Maintenance Manager. The Maintenance Engineer will have responsibility for the delivery of the Kilkenny Cheese Maintenance & Calibration Programme for Production Plant and Services Equipment. This is a key role in meeting stringent food safety, quality & customer requirements. Working with a team of maintenance technicians to deliver a world class maintenance & reliability system and performance for the site.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure all Maintenance operations are conducted in a safe and controlled environment
- Act as escalation point for maintenance issues across the site ensuring solutions are provided and actions to address root cause are implemented.
- Trend and analyse plant performance data to evaluate the effectiveness of maintenance and calibration systems such that continuous improvement on Key metrics can be made.
- Develop and implement systems for scheduling and documenting the performance of calibration & maintenance activities.
- Routinely plan, administer and assess Condition Based Monitoring and Reliability Centred Maintenance activities
- Ensure all maintenance operations and calibrations are completed as per the appropriate site procedure & schedule to various pieces of equipment and instrumentation
- Play a lead role in the preparation for and support of customer site audits and work to ensure the plant in a state of constant audit readiness.
- Ensure all documentation pertaining to maintenance & calibration is stored and organised in a controlled manner.
- Train team members in the maintenance of instrumentation & equipment as required.
- Set up, calibration and troubleshooting of various instrumentation.
- Identify and implement plant improvements to drive efficiency improvements
- Responsible for the preparation and maintenance of maintenance and calibration documentation
- Implement and maintain engineering standards for new site.
- Liaise with external vendors to improve and optimise existing plant and service equipment
KEY REQUIREMENTS
- Third level degree in an Engineering discipline and or trade qualified with an electrical or mechanical bias
- 3 + years industrial experience in a calibration & instrumentation role, preferably in the Dairy, Food & Beverage or Pharma sector in a GMP context
- Experience in Mechanical, Electrical & Instrumentation maintenance activities
- Experience operating within, and delivering on, the highest quality standards in the manufacturing sector and current cGMP standards
- Proven ability to work effectively as part of a cross functional team.
- Ability to interact with Maintenance IT process’s such as MES & SAP PM.
- Experience in troubleshooting and interacting with PLCs using various interface devices and software.
- Proficient user of MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- Knowledge and experience using SAP PM (or similar CMMS system) desirable
- Experience in the Dairy, Food & Beverage or Pharma sector is desirable
- Knowledge of Dairy or similar food processing industry
- Ability to manage a range of complex projects to completion
- Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills
- Self-motivating & enthusiastic individual
