Hygiene and Food Safety Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for end to end optimisation of microbiological standards across all plant processes across production, filling and packing, utilities and milk intake;
  • Ensure development, implementation and maintenance of a robust environmental control and monitoring programme e.g. cleaning and sanitation practices, hygienic zoning etc.;
  • Act as Process SME (Subject Matter Expert) and technical support for all production impacting issues relating to microbiological standards;
  • Establish performance standards and optimise performance across microbiological standards;
  • Work closely with Plant Qualification Lead to qualify/re-qualify processes to the appropriate performance KPIs;
  • Ensure testing is performed as per product specification requirements and cGMP;
  • Support validation activities and cleaning verification;
  • Monitor, report and trend on microbiological data and develop corrective actions relating to the environment and production processes;
  • Troubleshoot issues and identify opportunities to enhance performance in microbiological standards;
  • Ownership of microbiological driven documentation including design, development and roll-out of Standard Operating Procedures, Policies and training documentation;
  • As SME for microbiological standards, work with training to design, plan and deliver training to new and existing employees;
  • Support development and deployment of training to employees on food safety requirements and hygiene;
  • Conduct daily plant hygiene walk downs and report at the morning meeting on the hygiene status of the plant;
  • Maintain the MSS for cleaning in the plant.

 

Key Requirements:

  • Well rounded experience in a food safety and risk management role. Ensuring compliance in agricultural, food & dairy industries;
  • Proven track record in our industry specific risks and mitigation programs of same;
  • Minimum Bachelor degree in food sciences or dairy technology, Master degree is preferable;
  • 3 to 5 years related job experience within the industry;
  • Experience with microbial, chemical contaminants risk assessments and controls;
  • Demonstrate an ability to lead and drive change to achieve organisation standards, strong technical ability and attention to detail to do the job at a high level of accomplishment;
  • Dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers;
  • Ability to analyse data, recognise trends and recommend actions to drive continuous improvement.
