Human Resource Generalist

General Summary:  Administers various human resource programs; assists in development and implementation of HR policies and procedures; handles employee relations issues; maintains affirmative action plan activities; provides assistance to any HR projects as needed.  The candidate must be able to travel between three (3) locations Boca Raton, FL (2 times weekly), Sunrise, FL (3 times weekly) and Walterboro, SC (once a month).

 

The ideal candidate will develop strong relationships with each local leadership team by providing employee relations counseling, training, and policy administration to ensure fair and consistent implementation and enforcement. They will assist each site in driving regional and corporate initiatives in support of the overall Glanbia business.

 

MUST HAVE PRIOR OPERATIONS/MANUFACTURING EXPERIENCE.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Responds to employee questions by understanding and interpreting human resources policies and procedures – confers with the HR Manager as needed.  
  • Facilitates employee enrollment in ADP time keeping system.
  • Assists with coordination of new hire orientation, HR events, benefits open enrollment and company-wide meetings.  
  • Administers and maintains HR activities and programs; such as staffing, compensation, benefits, training and safety.
  • Assist HR Manager with the execution of HR practices by providing day-to-day HR support, coordinating and allocating resources, and driving execution of various corporate and/or regional initiatives. (e.g., Organization and People Review (OPR), benefits and salary administration, Performance Development Program (PDP)).
  • Assist with implementing strategies designed to drive and support the business goals.
  • Provide guidance on legal compliance, compensation and benefits matters.
  • Help to ensure consistency in the administration of HR guidelines by coaching/advising management on effective ways to handle employee relations, performance management, employee engagement, reward and recognition and disciplinary issues. 
  • Coordinate with training resources and HR Manager on delivery of HR training to local management and employees. (e.g. PDP, OPR, supervisor skills, harassment, etc.)
  • Partner with other HR team members to develop and scale best practices.
  • Counsels employees and managers to address root causes of employee relations issues, attempting to resolve conflicts with a systematic approach and making recommendations for corrective action and continuous improvement.
  • Conducts and/or assist during internal investigations processes.  Partners with management on matters related to employment law, compliance with federal and state laws, and company policy/process application.
  • Has working knowledge of OSHA requirements and handles incidents reports including Workers’ Compensation issues.
  • Coordinates employee performance appraisal and merit review processes. Tracks and follows up on completion.
  • Assists with development and maintenance of affirmative action plans which includes preparing appropriate logs and reports.
  • Administers various human resources programs including employee recognition programs (services awards, employee acknowledgement program, employee appreciation days, etc.).
  • Responsible for evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals.  Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
  • Coordinates and oversees hiring activity with the temporary agencies and temporary employees. 
  • Documents and manages various people-centric transactions such as new-hire, recruitment, change-of-status, performance evaluations, benefits, terminations, etc. Conducts new-hire orientations. 

     

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • PHR or SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish) communications skills required.
  • Considerable knowledge of human resource principles and practices.
  • Ability to work autonomously and independently, while contributing to team initiatives.
  • Continuous process improvement focus and effective project management skills.
  • Strong personal credibility and sense of empathy with demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with various levels in the organization. Ability to build a solid understanding of the company’s operations and functional groups to best support its objectives.
  • Sound judgment, decision-making skills and high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to interact effectively with management and staff at all levels.
  • Ability to effectively multi-task in a fast and dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated competencies including collaboration, communication (written and verbal), negotiation skills, and the ability to effectively influence others to adopt a course of action on critical, complex or sensitive information.
  • Extensive knowledge and practical application of Federal/state employment laws, regulations, and requirements, EEOC, FLSA, and DOL through education and/or experience.
  • Excellent computer skills, MS Office, including Excel required. Must have strong proficiency in the functional use of key business applications including HRIS system.

     

    Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or related field and 3+ years of HR experience in a manufacturing/operations environment required.
  • Master’s Degree a plus.
