Brand Manager Innovation

The Innovation Manager is responsible for leading and directing key near term and long term North American innovation pipeline strategy and activities, reporting to the Sr. Director of SlimFast.  This position will be responsible for interpreting business strategy, consumer insights, industry data and lead cross functional teams to bring product concepts from ideation to commercialization.


Successful applicants must demonstrate understanding of weight management category and/or have deep curiosity for the industry, ingredients and nutrition. The right candidate needs to speak with authority on products,  the ability to juggle multiple projects, lead cross functional teams, and must demonstrate good organizational, analytical, and communication skills. The Innovation Manager needs to effectively and accurately communicate relevant project information to the project team, and internal stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities:

Innovation Management:

  • Leading and developing the strategic near term and long term innovation pipeline for SlimFast North America
  • Bring strategy, consumer insights, white space opportunities for the brand and concepts to life from ideation to commercialization
  • Leads the product development process and develops business case to assess market potential
  • Partners with other functional areas to quickly bring viable new products to market
  • Commercializes line extensions that can be launched within 12 months
  • Lead innovation projects through the product & packaging development process (Stage Gate – Project Management)
  • Be able to set up product concepts that will win amongst competitive landscape and deliver on internal margin targets (product P&L experience)
  • Communicate effectively and accurately all relevant project information to stakeholders
  • Monitor timelines and key milestones to ensure efficient, on-time delivery
  • Brief & manage internal process to create and develop new packaging labels
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams: Insights/Research, Creative, Sales/Marketing, Quality and Supply Chain
  • Ability to adjust to changing priorities, deal with ambiguity and work with a variety of stakeholders
  • Ability to influence internal stakeholders and understand global complexities
  • Demonstrated ability for multi-tasking, attention to detail, accuracy

Brand Management:

  • Develops market and competitive analysis leveraging syndicated and propriety data to aid in annual marketing plan development and future innovation plan
  • Analyzes market trends and recommend changes/optimization to marketing and product strategies based on analysis and feedback
  • Develop SlimFast innovation pipeline to deliver strategic business plan
  • Responsible for managing and reporting of brand budget and Innovation KPIs
  • Maximize profitability of assigned product groups
  • Develop and implement annual brand plans (Innovation portion)
  • Ensures Legal approval of all documents, contracts and materials that touch external stakeholders


Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Master’s degree or MBA preferred not required
  • 3-5 years of experience required, preferably in like industry or consumer packaged goods
  • We work at a fast-pace, and this role will require multi-threaded work streams
  • Passionate and knowledgeable about weight management, sports nutrition, fitness, wellness industry is a plus
  • Communicates effectively and builds relationships with internal/external stakeholders
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to persuade audiences (internal and external key stakeholders)
  • Team player and ability to work well and build strong relationships with cross-functional teams
  • Results oriented with high level of initiative and assertiveness
