Financial Analyst (Accounting and Control)


Reports To: Assistant Financial controller – GNNA

Department:  Glanbia Nutritionals Finance

Location: Chicago (must be willing to relocate to Chicago)

Pay Status: Salaried Exempt


Job Summary

This position is for Financial Analyst on the A&C team  for Premix and Non Dairy Bioactives North America.  Our team is responsible for financial reporting, planning, controls and business partnering with other internal/external stakeholders.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities (not restrictive)


  • Key player in the day to day running of the accounting and control function in Chicago
  • Support the month end close process for GNNA Company codes with associated reporting and controls
  • Support the consolidation of monthly actual results and feed into the monthly reporting process led by the GN consolidation team
  • Key doer of  BCS close process ensuring group deadlines are met
  • Support the GTAU/GMEX & Watson finance team as required
  • Play a role in ensuring that the required accounting control procedures are in place and are effective.  This includes the control and reconciliation of the GNNA/GMEX Balance Sheet in line with the Balance Sheet responsibility matrix
  • Support the Internal and external audits and effort in ensuring compliance with Glanbia accounting policies, including internal controls
  • Liaise with Group Finance functions to ensure compliance and alignment with Group policies and expectations around risk management
  • Support the financial planning process and associated reporting requirements
  • Support financial process and systems improvement activity ensuring all GN financial planning and reporting process are optimized and aligned with overall GN reporting structures
  • Key player in developing the A&C team in Chicago and incorporating optimization efforts in the team
  • Coaching of GNNA graduate
  • Cross-train with other analysts and feed learnings back to GNNA team

Qualification & Experience Requirements

Education, Training:


  • Professional Accounting qualification
  • Ideal candidate will have 3 years finance experience gained in a variety of finance environments including significant financial planning and analysis experience

Experience Required:


  • Strong financial acumen including strong technical accounting skills.  Must possess a broad business perspective and have a ‘hands-on’ and in-depth understanding of the GN financials
  • Ability to work in a cross functional matrix organization
  • Hands on experience of using and operating SAP systems and proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Financial Accounting - Provides competent and fit for purpose accounting services, ensuring that financial practices are compliant and audit-ready, to maintain the highest standards of financial management within Glanbia
  •  Business planning – Help drive an optimised financial and business planning process across the business to ensure rigorous evaluation of investments and value creating opportunities
  • Business analysis and modeling – Ability to provide realistic  and relevant reports to support the business decision making process
  • IT skills – Can leverages IT technologies and systems to drive and improve business performance


Language, Computer &   Numeracy:

  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • SAP knowledge preferred
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft packages

Domestic USA may be required (occassional international travel may be required)
