Job Summary:

The Global Logistics Manager will be responsible for managing the Global product movements for Glanbia Nutritionals including trade compliance. The Global Logistics Manager will oversee global shipping, customs and documentation, air and ocean shipping and freight forwarding for Glanbia Nutritionals.  The role supervises a team of 6 Export Subject Matter Experts.  Daily communications with the company’s distribution centers, customs brokers and freight forwarders.  Internal communications with operations, warehouse, commercial and finance departments

Essential Functions:

  • Continued development and implementation of a corporate trade compliance program including:
  • Completion and continued maintenance of  import and export compliance procedure manuals
  • Defining and developing procedures for trade compliance audits and ensuring corrective action processes are in place to comply with local import and export regulations globally
  • Actively support operational process controls through regular activity and training with Product Management, Logistics, Sales, Finance, Marketing and Distribution to keep the company compliant with trade regulations.
  • Classification of new products
  • Ensure compliance with all import/ export “special programs” (GSP, NAFTA, 9801/2 & duty drawback)
  • Country of origin & markings determination
  • Product specific compliance activities in validation of US Government procurement programs              
  • Supports compliance requirements and recommendations with other related internal organizations globally in maintaining continuity with corporate trade compliance direction.
    • Reviews and reports on the state of the company's compliance effectiveness, report areas of risk to senior team, recommend solutions, and obtain guidance and/or decision support for required improvements.
  • Serves as prime contact for import/ export compliance and government inquiries or notifications relating to compliance issues.
    • CF28, 29 and any other inquiry or action
  • Stays current on U.S. import/ export regulatory changes and proposed legislation as well as other global initiative and legislation
  • Manages external custom brokers and performs monthly post-entry audits against customs reports and customs broker electronic data, vendor and shipper invoice and import documentation.
  • Prepares and files all required reports as specified by government export and import compliance agencies.
  • All other duties as requested by manager or department head


Logistics Functions

  • Reports Freight Forwarder KPI’s to Category Manager - Transport/Energy to ensure compliance with service contracts and performance.
  • Stay current with freight practices and procedures and provide recommendations to improve based on changing market or network conditions
  • Oversees freight forwarder service and involvement at destinations to ensure timely customs clearance and delivery to engagements
  • Liaise with Category Manager of Transportation in successful management and closure of ocean freights claims


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher required in business, economics or equivalent
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in this field is required
  • Demonstrated skill set for handling international shipping documentation requirements and regulations
  • Specialized training in: Logistics preferred
  • CTCS (Certified Trade Compliance Specialist) preferred
  • Extensive knowledge in global shipping, customs clearance, documentation and duty drawback, air and ocean shipping and forwarding
  • Consumer based company experience preferred
  • Experience with Global Trade Management software
  • Experience with SAP functionality
  • Strong analytical skills and excel proficiency
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills (reading, writing, speaking)
