Job Summary

At Glanbia Nutritionals (the B2B Ingredients division of Glanbia Plc) the Primary Research Manager will be an expert on market research, including both primary and secondary research and analysis and use this expertise to help shape and support both our product strategies and our commercial strategies.  The Primary Research Manager will work across different areas of the business and will be specifically responsible for identifying areas where consumer research projects will provide value to the business within a B2B context and executing on those projects. This could span across gaining a better understanding of consumer needs in key categories to identify innovation opportunities, to new product concept testing to positioning research results for use with our customers (typically mid to large food and beverage companies). The Primary Research Manager will play a critical part of helping GN develop a robust lens on consumers so that we can continue to be more effective in delivering new ideas to our customers.


Essential Functions

  • Elevate and represent the voice of the consumer across the organization to enable a culture that is anchored in deep and empathic player understanding.
  • Design, implement and lead high-impact quantitative and qualitative research to support a number of cross-functional teams including but not limited to, marketing, product management and business development.
  • Ensure that all deliverables are actionable, grounded in deep player knowledge and psychology, and guided by a broader understanding of business context.
  • Translate research into actionable insights, packaging research findings and recommendations for all stakeholders.
  • Recommending and designing appropriate studies or research approaches; working to get stakeholder buy-in/approval.
  • Synthesizing and analyzing data collected from surveys, usability testing and other research studies; translating research insights into actionable recommendations and direction.
  • Uncover meaningful insights from secondary research sources, including syndicated data.
  • Participate on a cross-functional team to support new product launches. Ensure key learning plan milestones are successfully met on time.
  • Closely monitor and report on category and consumer trends with the ability to assess key marketing opportunities and treats.
  • Demonstrate a natural passion for the sports nutrition/ fitness/ wellness category.
  • In charge of research and uncovering Megatrends and understanding how these can be applied to the company.
  • Undertaking primary research from the design to programming (Survey Monkey), analysis and concept test design.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Market Research or an equivalent combination of education and experience.



  • 7-10+ years’ experience in strategic/consumer insights/ research/ analytics.
  • Experience in executing insight initiatives including creating content independently with the ability to translate qualitative and quantitative findings into compelling presentations.
  • Market research and analysis experience – including familiarity with and demonstrated ability to analyze data from key external sources (e.g. IRI, Innova, Euromonitor, others).
  • Proven ability to work effectively both independently and in a team based environment.
  • Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
  • Well versed in various marketing research methodologies, with equal comfort in qual and quant, and ability to make strategic recommendations based on the business needs (Design, programming and analyzing questionnaires).
  • Ability to distill raw data into actionable insights, and create clear, concise and actionable reports.
  • Experience servicing multiple teams, and adapting insights for each audience.
  • Experience establishing & maintaining relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization, including the executive level.
  • Demonstrated strong data and analytical skills such as analyzing and reporting data in order to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions.
  • Experience identifying operational issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems.
  • Experience in leading and project managing cross-functional teams.
  • Experience influencing stakeholders within an organization.
  • Familiarity with customer intelligence software.
  • Ability to comprehensively understand and covert consumer, category, competitor, and channel/customer insights into actionable plans and recommendations.
  • Self-starting, problem solver who effectively uses fact-based rationale.
  • Exposure to P&L and forecasting a plus.
