JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for the Strategic Product Management of the Plant Based Nutrition Portfolio at Glanbia Nutritionals in the USA and Canada.  This position will share P&L responsibility for the product group, including seeds/grains & plant protein, and will be responsible for developing business initiatives and leading new market and/or business opportunities. 

This position is a key link between supporting existing business and developing future growth. This role involves working in a cross functional, global team on a day to day basis to execute on strategic plans.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Contributes to the overall P&L management of the Plant Based Nutrition business in the USA and Canada, with direct responsibility for assigned product lines.
  • Contributes to setting budgets and forecasts throughout the year and reporting on a monthly and annual basis. Responsible for driving assigned business to adhere to these budgets and forecasts.
  • Works with PSM team to develop a comprehensive strategy to drive the Plant Based Nutrition business in North America and support entry into new markets, utilizing internal and external assets as appropriate.
  • Works with Market Insights & R&D to identify appropriate product(s) for promotion into new or existing markets, generate data & insights to support value proposition via sales tools, direct prototype development needed to support sales efforts, and/or define and drive the innovation pipeline for responsible product group.
  • Maintains and drives the customer opportunity pipeline.
  • Maintains relationships with key customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Maintains relationship with key supplier partners as appropriate.
  • Maintains and develops knowledge in the Plant Based Nutrition market to act as the subject matter expert in Glanbia Nutritionals.
  • Provides sales training where needed.
  • Participates in joint customer calls with sales as the product expert.
  • Be a member and leader of cross functional teams where necessary. Act as liaison for internal customers (sales, finance, customer service, purchasing, marketing, operations) for day-to-day product related strategies.
  • Supports new global market opportunities identified by the core team and provides recommendations based on market research
  • Supports regions outside the US, and works collaboratively to apply best practices across the globe

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • The ideal candidate must possess excellent interpersonal communication and relationship building skills and an open mind to manage cross-functional teams
  • Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree (Preferred Masters or MBA), preferably in a scientific background (Food Science, Nutrition Science)
  • At least 7 yrs related experience within Plant Based ingredients or Plant Based consumer products.
  • Must be experienced in a business development, product management, or similar commercial / marketing role.

  • Knowledge of Plant based foods is essential, with a passion for the market and consumer
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in written form with co-workers, top management, internal and external customers including excellent writing and presentation skills.
  • Effective collaborator able to work in project teams and across changing structures within a high-growth business.
  • Effective organizational skills in scoping projects tracking projects, etc.
  • Ability to be resourceful in locating information needed to complete projects.
  • Excellent content development skills including ability to craft visual and/or written narratives.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and possess team-based problem solving skills.
  • Must be oriented toward accomplishment of team goals and results focused.
  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Ability to persuade.       
  • Must be a strategic thinker, highly analytical, with good problem solving skills and comfortable with assessing market/business opportunities understanding statistics.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel (Pivot Tables), Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Typical Environmental Conditions

  • May be exposed to moderate noise levels (i.e. office equipment, light traffic).
  • May be exposed to moderate to high noise levels (i.e. production equipment, forklifts, heavy traffic).
  • May be exposed to humidity, intense heat and cold, outdoor weather conditions, and fumes and toxic chemicals.
  • May work in areas with mechanical moving parts, above ground with risk of fall, or areas with risk of electrical shock.

 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimal overnight travel (up to 30%) by land and/or air.
