Glanbia is recruiting for the position of Sustainability Manager. Based in Ireland or the United States, this role will be responsible for supporting the development of Glanbia’s sustainability strategy, analysing and reporting on key developments in sustainability, coordinating reporting, and working with the Environment Leadership Team (ELT) to evolve our programmes. The Sustainability Manager will report to the Head of Sustainability and work as a member of the Corporate Affairs division.

 

The Sustainability Manager will:

  • Manage the strategic projects and relationships with key external advisors including the Carbon Trust and Harbor as cornerstones of Glanbia’s evolving sustainability strategy to 2030.
  • Work as part of the Group wide Environmental Leadership Team (ELT) on development and delivery of core environmental KPIs to support Group wide priority programmes.
  • Coordinate and map stakeholder questionnaires (including investor and customers) across the business units and for Group, mining the data to identify gaps and future state needs.
  • Compile international reports (including CDP) and work with BUs to progress Glanbia’s scoring through insight and best practice gathering.
  • Review of quarterly and annual environmental data and operation and refinement of Intelex functionality to deliver cost benefit insights.
  • Analyse and report on global sustainability developments at commercial, consumer and policy level.  Including analysis of sustainability programs and progress in peer companies to inform our strategy.
  • Represent Glanbia and support the work of the Director and BU sustainability leads with international, national and industry organizations including the Center for US Dairy Innovation, Global Dairy Platform, Sustainable Agriculture Initiative, Bord Bia and Dairy Sustainability Framework.
  • Work as part of the Glanbia corporate affairs division to deliver sustainability communications internally and externally, including the Group Annual Report and Sustainability Report.
  • Develop and evolve key messages for executive leadership on sustainability.

 

Experience / Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate will have a technical background suited to the complexities of the food sector supply chain and sustainability needs from a University level science discipline.
  • Miniumum of 3+ year's experience in a similar sustainability role within a global organisation with knowledge of reporting principles and obligations preferred.
  • Competence in reporting systems (e.g. Intelex), project management and regulatory compliance is required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong people engagement skills given so many dependencies across BUs and Group.
  • Self-starter with an appetite to embrace new challenges as they arise.
  • Strategic thinker with ability to analyse complex sustainabilty topics relevent to our business and provide situational analysis drafting.
  • Strong attention to accuracy and detail in their daily work, and a high level of accomplishment and motivation.
  • Dedication to meeting the expectations of internal and external customers. 
  • Possesses motivational skills oriented towards encouraging people’s best performance possible
