Role Overview:

We are now recruiting for a dynamic senior leader who will be able to contribute to the continued growth of the organisation.  You will work closely with the Group HR & Corporate Affairs Director on strategic planning activities, business performance metrics of the Group and ensuring operational excellence across the key functional areas of Reward and Performance under your remit.  As a member of the Group HR leadership team, you will work closely with key stakeholders throughout the organisation, as well as external partner relationships, in building a culture where Reward and Performance are an enabler of our overall people and leadership strategy.


You will report to  and partner with the Group HR & Corporate Affairs Director on all Remuneration Committee matters, executive remuneration and Board level reward advisory activities. You will work closely with our Group functions including Group Finance, Company Secretariat and Legal and act as the lead on all external regulatory & compliance reporting, audit and internal controls related requirements.  


Your ability to foster and draw on the community of HR Leaders, Reward and Benefits specialists in our BUs and regions to mobilise Group total reward strategies will be vital and a critical success outcome.


You will also lead or participate in strategic projects such as our HR Transformation program and will have an advisory role to projects being developed locally by the BUs to ensure regular exchange of best practices /synergies between the BUs and establish communities of experts.


The position will be located in Ireland (Dublin OR Kilkenny) and will require a level of national and international travel (approx. 25%) when safe to do so.  The role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a high growth business within a developing and innovative sector that is rapidly evolving.



Key Elements of the Role

  • Partner with Glanbia HR Leadership and executive leadership to define, develop, communicate and execute the Glanbia reward philosophy, vision, and strategy.
  • Work with the BU HR Leaders and Reward teams to identify emerging needs of the business across jurisdictions and feed these into the development of Group reward policies and practices to ensure that the reward team is continually meeting business needs.
  • Identify areas of improvement to current Reward practice, providing options and recommendations and implementing them to drive commercial impact.
  • Leadership and management of all elements the Group reward agenda including annual performance cycle, grading, market benchmarking, Group benefit programmes, etc.
  • Management of the Group’s long term incentive plans, company bonus plans and benefits programmes from design to cost analysis to implementation.
  • Monitor regulatory compliance and audits to ensure compliance and respond to audit and regulatory inquiries. Delivery of regulatory and compliance requirements, e.g., gender pay reporting.
  • Oversee third party advisor vendor selection; monitor and manage selected vendors against service level agreements and effectiveness.
  • Own all periodic processes associated with performance and reward programmes, including planning and leading performance and compensation review cycles.
  • Prepare annual total compensation budget and forecasts in close collaboration with finance, HR and executive leadership. 
  • Support the Group HR Director and the Chairman of the Remuneration Committee in managing Director and Executive level remuneration –design, processes and reporting.
  • Develop and maintain effective analytics and metrics, and dashboards to influence programme direction and monitor business impact and effectiveness.  
  • Keep abreast of external best practice reward strategies globally and make recommendations to enhance Glanbia’s reward proposition across our regions.
  • Lead a small direct Group Reward team and foster and engage the distributed community of experts within the business units to ensure strategic alignment, knowledge sharing and global alignment around Group reward policies and program execution.
  • Lead the design, development, execution and change management of Group level programmes such as global mobility, job sizing, performance/productivity measures.



  • Currently operating in a senior leadership Reward role in a large multi-national organisation.
  • Significant previous experience across Reward functional areas, e.g., in particular total reward design, executive compensation & benefits programmes and performance.
  • Experienced in the design of executive reward packages, long term incentive programmes and creating new executive reward approaches.
  • Extensive experience of implementing change programmes and being instrumental in the planning and organising of Change Management projects including development and implementation of Reward & Benefits programmes.
  • Experience and exposure leading and galvanising teams with matrixed reporting lines.
  • Experience with internal and external reporting/disclosures requirements, M&A due diligence and integration.



  • Excellent financial acumen, as well as having a solid understanding of tax/accounting/legal/regulatory issues related to compensation programmes, with a strong knowledge of equity compensation.
  • Strong IT proficiency, e.g., MS Office suite, Enterprise Wide Resource Planning systems (ERPs), data analytics.
  • Strong commercial acumen and application of data analytics approach to decision making.
  • Advanced project/programme management skills and ability to get things done in a fast paced environment, effectively handling multiple, rapidly changing and conflicting priorities
  • Demonstrated leadership ability – including the development, empowerment and engagement of direct reporting and cross-functional project teams.
  • Learning agility - the willingness and ability to learn from experience and subsequently apply that learning to perform successfully under new or first-time conditions.
  • Strong partnering and influencing skills; ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders, across all levels within a complex environment.
  • Excellent presentation and report writing skills – up to Board level, displaying clarity of thought process and clearly and effectively transmitting technical and business messages in all mediums of communication.
  • As a key senior role in Glanbia, the candidate will have the energy, drive and leadership skills to garner confidence at Executive/Board level and be able to inspire great team performance and drive business growth.
