Reporting to the Transport Co-ordination Manager this role will be responsible for the creation of the optimal transport plans servicing the requirements laid out by the Supply chain planning function. Working towards JIT (just in time) solutions supporting production materials, inter site movements, and route to market on the island of Ireland. Delivering cost effective, service orientated plans with cost and cross utilisation optimised. This role will be based in Co. Kilkenny. There will be a requirement to work some Saturdays as part of your normal working week due to the nature of the role.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Create optimal transport plans servicing the requirements laid out by the Supply chain planning function.
  • As part of an integrated transport planning team, design and cost the optimal transport solution for all collections, deliveries and inter site movements on a daily basis. 
  • Maintain and develop a high standard of service and relationships in the most cost effective and operationally efficient manner.
  • Manage performance in relation to the ABP in the format of KPI’s and planned v’s actual reports.
  • Maintain the detail and integrity of all movements’ information via the GI operating IT systems.  
  • Liaise and agree with factory / depot personnel and the planning team, the most appropriate intake / out-take profile. 
  • In conjunction with the Transport Co-ordination team ensure the utilization and available time of all transport fleet is maximised. 
  • Work closely with the Transport Planning Manager, constantly striving to develop and improve the collection and delivery process, cost and systems.
  • Ensuring all documentation and administration is completed to the highest standard.  
  • Be an effective agent in the 3M process, striving to implement and learn GPS tools where appropriate to enhance the services and processes

 

Key Requirements:

  • 3+ years’ experience in Transport Planning, Transport activity management
  • Ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Must be comfortable with IT systems, platforms and processes
  • Results driven, performance capability in a fast moving business environment
  • Ability to manage challenging situations through to successful, agreeable conclusions
