Financial Accounting Manager

Location:                             Clovis, NM (strongly preferred) but open to Twin Falls/Gooding, ID or St. Johns, MI 

 

Southwest Cheese is the world’s largest manufacture of cheese/whey products and is located in Clovis, New Mexico.  It is a joint venture between Glanbia and The Greater Southwest Agency and provides ample opportunity for career growth and experience in a fast-paced, high-performing enterprise.

 

Job Summary

Responsible for providing financial reports to Glanbia, plc, assisting with audit/tax questions, managing financial aspects of property, plant, and equipment, and monitoring compliance with government tax, audit, and Company accounting policies.

 

Essential Functions

  • Ownership of company financial statements, including preparation, distribution, and budgets/forecasts.
  • Create, maintain and reconcile company owned equipment, buildings, leased assets and other property.
  • Prepare depreciation and property schedules for auditors and tax preparers as needed.
  • Monitor administration of capex projects and prepare closing sheets where applicable, including posting adjusting journal entries as needed.
  • Supervise and develop administrative and financial analyst staff.
  • Prepare monthly working capital reports.
  • Prepare and submit monthly compensating and withholding tax filings
  • Post intercompany recharges, maintain and balance accounts, and prepare FX wires
  • Audit balance sheet reconciliations monthly.
  • Assist with internal and external audit as needed.
  • Prepare, monitor, log, and maintain journal entry file.
  • Utilizes GPS processes, driving zero losses and upholds the culture of Southwest Cheese non-negotiables.
  • Other duties and ad hoc reporting and analysis as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three to five years related experience.
  • CPA designation preferred but not required.       
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiply projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  •  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill            
  • Ability to define problems, collects data, establishes facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.

 

Typical Environmental Conditions

  • May be exposed to moderate noise levels (i.e. office equipment or light traffic).
     

Travel Requirements

  • Minimal travel required on an ad hoc basis.
