Job Summary

Provide engineering direction and support for the process systems of multiple facilities. Manage and oversee projects throughout the entire project cycle, from initial concept through successful completion. Provide engineering support to other project managers as assigned.

 

Essential Functions

  • Process Engineering Functions – As a customer focused individual, provide the following services to Operations and Maintenance as required:
  • Design methods for maintaining or increasing process efficiencies while improving production costs, yields, quality and safety.
  • Troubleshoot process problems and identify solutions which reduce downtime and conserve costs.
  • Determine the layout of piping, equipment and utilities for engineering changes.
  • Develop documentation in support of process changes (Process Description, Scope, Process Drawings, etc).
  • Solicit and critique proposed process changes, submittals and designs.
  • Designs and conducts plant trials to determine the test methods, procedures, parts, and equipment needed to implement engineering changes.
  • Review pertinent agency regulations; advise operations, maintenance and project managers accordingly
  • Ensure system design complies with State and Federal regulations.
  • Project Management Functions – As a self motivated leader, effectively manage projects by:
  • Utilizing team management skills to lead the design group during the conceptual phase of project development.
  • Directing development of an action plan and estimate requirements for resources management, labor, materials, and time required to complete project.
  • Assessing vendors for competence, capabilities, resources, and financial status. Review and negotiate bid documents.
  • Being accountable for project development and execution to include budget, schedule, and performance.
  • Working with design group to modify plans as appropriate if problems arise.
  • Preparation of all documentation required for submittal of  Capital Expenditure Requests
  • Utilizes GPS processes, driving zero losses, and upholds the culture of Glanbia non-negotiables.
  • Each employee shall comply with occupational safety and health standards and all rules, regulations, and orders issued pursuant to the Occupational Safety and Health  Act which are applicable to his/her own actions and conduct.
  • Complies with all applicable food safety regulations and mandates (Safe Quality Foods, Food and Drug Admin, Pasteurized Milk Ordinance)

Additional Functions

  • Maintain documentation library (drawings, manuals, standards, etc).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering (preferably chemical or mechanical) plus a minimum of 2 years’ experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both in oral and written form.  Create, draft technical documents and reports.
  • Ability to perform and interpret advanced mathematical concepts such as calculus, linear algebra, logarithms and quadratic equations.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
  • Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, computer aided design (CAD), etc. Demonstrated ability to develop projects and lead teams of people to successful completion.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, handle multiple projects simultaneously and delegate assignments to others.
  • Effectively work alone, with little supervision, or as part of a team
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals
  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill

Physical Demands

  • Regularly involves sitting, talking or listening and the use of hands and fingers.
  • Frequently standing and walking.
  • Occasionally involves reaching with hands and arms, stoops, crouches, climbs and/or balances.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 60 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, works with the fingers, and perceive attributes of objects and materials.
  • Involves light physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of a primarily administrative nature.

 

Typical Environmental Conditions

  • May be exposed to loud noise levels (i.e. manufacturing equipment).
  • May be subject to areas of air-contamination, areas of high humidity, high heat, vibrations, exposure to toxic fumes and poorly lighted areas
  • May work above ground level where a possibility of fall exists and near moving mechanical parts

 

Travel Requirements

    • Occasional overnight travel (up to 50%) by land and/or air.
