Role Profile

Based in Ballyragget & reporting to the R&D Manager for Fat Filled Dairy Powders & Dairy Fats, the Senior Technologist will manage and deliver Innovation and Technical Projects for Tirlán. Working within the R&D department, but with key contacts in Growth, Operations and Quality teams, this individual will advance projects focussed on optimisation of current fat filled spray dried dairy powders and development of new products in line with customer expectations. This position requires an experienced technologist with in-depth dairy product and processing knowledge, technical skills and project management experience.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Liaise with a multi-disciplinary R&D team to co-ordinate and drive the completion of R&D innovation activities, from concept through to conclusion, within the Tirlan project governance process;
  • Evaluate existing product performance in various functionality tests and customer end-use applications at lab & pilot scale;
  • Ability to organise, execute, manage, and document all pilot and plant trials in compliance with R&D procedures;
  • Conduct lab and pilot plant experiments to evaluate concepts such as changes in product formulations or manufacturing process;
  • Review product and process trials against objectives and promptly report to stakeholders on outcomes and next steps;
  • Support customer engagement initiatives to showcase our product and application capabilities to drive growth opportunities;
  • Develop professional and value-based business relationships with existing and new customer and supplier contacts;
  • Liaise with cross-functional teams to problem solve product quality or consistency issues;
  • Keep technically abreast of relevant developments to support internal capability.

 

Key Requirements

  • Science based qualification in food science/nutrition;
  • Preferred 10+ year’s relevant technical and/or operational experience in a value-added dairy or related food industry;
  • Application and product development experience;
  • Dairy processing technology, food chemistry;
  • Regulatory understanding an advantage;
  • Experience managing internal technical projects and stakeholders to deliver projects on time, in scope and in budget;
  • Some national and international travel required.
