This position supports the development of our flavor business for Glanbia Nutritionals. This role drives efficiency in our laboratory creating flavors for customers. 

Responsibilities:

• Manage the flavor library and customer sampling requests in CRM
• Analyze current flavor library and evaluate new flavors for potential addition to library.
• Plan the sample schedule based on requests, priorities, and stock levels.
• Own the organization and cleanliness of the flavor lab.
• Compound liquid and powder flavors and adjust formulations based on evaluation of flavor profile and input received from Flavor Chemist. 
• Create new flavors for sample requests to meet regulatory, sensory, and/or cost requirements.
• Perform typical flavor laboratory analysis e.g. distillation & liquid extraction.
• Operate QA equipment such as balances, pH meter, refractometer, flash point analyzer, GCMS.
• Maintain and update database of flavors and associated documentation.
• Prepare and update documentation including Product Specifications, SDS, Nutritional, SOP’s
• Create finished applications- mainly RTM beverages, as needed.
• Maintain and document inventory of needed supplies and ingredients and procure as required.
• Record information including lab methods, results and general observations.
• Analyze assigned samples for lab and shelf life studies
• Ability to move packages weighing up to 25lbs.
• Work courteously and tactfully with laboratory clients, the public and employees.
• Perform other duties as assigned

Education, Training:      

• Requires a Bachelors’ degree (B.S or B.A.) in Chemistry, Food Science or related field; or a combination of relevant experience. 
• Proficient in using Microsoft Office software including Word and Excel and possess good report writing and communication skills.
• Must possess good math and analytical skills
• Must possess good sensory skills i.e. taste and smell.
• Accomplish assigned tasks with precision and accuracy
• Excellent record required in safety, attendance, and punctuality
• Self-motivated and ability to work with little supervision

Typical Environmental Conditions:

• May be exposed to moderate noise levels (i.e. office equipment, light traffic).
• May be exposed to loud noise levels (i.e. manufacturing equipment).
• May be exposed to humidity, intense heat, and fumes and toxic chemicals.
• May be exposed to fumes and toxic chemicals, and disagreeable odors.
