The opportunity where you will make an impact:

Greater China has been one of GPN’s fastest growing region with strong brand presence and high-quality talent. We are seeking a transformational General Manager who will lead this Region to the next level in terms of building a robust portfolio, muscular brands, competitive & cost-effective product supply, omni channel RTM and motivated & engaged employees so as to achieve our vision of creating a profitable USD 100 Mn business in the coming 3-5 years. She/he will be the face of GPN in the Region and help build a strong GPN Values based culture and talented pool of people.

               

Strategic Commercial and Marketing Management

  • Formulates business strategy and commercial plans to deliver the Region vision and annual budgeted growth plans and to ensure that the Greater China team understands the critical success factors to achieve this growth
  • Leads thinking and execution (thru Marketing team) on portfolio & brand development strategy for Optimum Nutrition, SlimFast, BSN, Isopure and the broader portfolio of GPN brands
  • Inspires the Marketing team to develop a network of key opinion leaders, brand ambassadors & influencers across sports and lifestyle social platforms  
  • Identifies new market opportunities and distribution partnerships, develops robust business proposals to support buy-in from key stakeholders and negotiates contracts with a view to develop long-term relationships
  • Monitors competitor activities and industry insights to ensure the business is taking advantage of any market opportunities and new distribution partners.
  • Nurture & develop (thru Commercial team) key channel partnerships including, existing Distributors, national Key Accounts, Gyms, Health stores and Online retail channels
  • Lead capability development across Ecommerce, Social Media, Influencer Marketing to gain competitive advantage
  • Leads the FDM (food/drug/mass) channel entry for the Greater China business

 

Financial Management

  • Owns the P&L in Greater China by managing business to meet the agreed Net Revenue, Contribution Margin and Operating Profit Targets.
  • Develops the Greater China strategic plan, annual operating plan and support quarterly financial estimates.
  • Manages all budgets, while keeping business secure and competitive within the market.
  • Supports development of the right ‘Financial Controls’ to ensure strong health of the business

 

Supply Chain Operations/Regulatory Affairs

  • Works with global and local operation teams to develop and execute optimal supply chain strategy that helps to build the right competitive advantage
  • Builds the right capability across Demand planning, Supply Planning, Customer Service along with the SC Head for the Region
  • Manages regulatory processes for all NPD initiatives and works with global internal stakeholders to efficiently support regulatory efforts in the Greater China region.

 

Talent Management & Development

  • Builds, inspires and manages an effective team in Greater China region to drive growth and market share.
  • Creates milestones and symbols to rally support behind the organizational goals and vision.
  • Lives and breathes GPN core values and inspires others to be high performers.
  • Fosters accountable and sustainable environment while motivating the direct reports and other employees to their best.
  • Provides strong leadership, coaching, support, career development opportunities & drives performance reviews within the high performing team.

 

 

What you will bring to GPN:

  • Strong, hands-on Commercial and/or Marketing experience in FMCG or Consumer-facing industries. 
  • Strategic as well as operational, with full exposure to relevant areas of the business (Commercial, Marketing, Supply Chain, Regulatory Affairs, and HR). 
  • Significant experience in large-scale customer management, along with experience in delivering growth in grocery/convenience and digital/e-commerce.
  • Experience in leading diverse and remote teams.
  • The capability to set clear strategies and managing & measuring work to drive delivery.
  • Strong financial acumen, to enable a healthy P&L.
  • Experience in working with & leading Marketing Teams to grow brands
  • Demonstrated capability in capturing external trends to create value.
  • Passion for sports and the promotion of active lifestyles.
  • Strong influencing and communication skills, proven capability in harnessing support across a matrix to drive performance.
  • Deep understanding of China’s digital eco-system 
  • A collaborative leader who knows how to build, influence and motivate the team. 
  • 15+ years of commercial experience in CPG or Sports Nutrition with full P&L Ownership for at least 2-3 years
  • Experience operating within a global matrix organization structure
  • English working proficiency
  • Chinese working proficiency
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Marketing or related field of study
  • A big picture view with an entrepreneurial mindset and willingness to roll up sleeves
