Job Summary
The Procurement Category Analyst is a member of the Strategic Procurement Department.  The primary role of the Procurement Category Analyst is to assist team leaders by providing tier-one transactional support, executing daily management tasks and progressing project implementation.

The Procurement Category Analyst will ensure compliance with procurement processes and procedures as well as assist in the timely execution of procurement-oriented tasks.  This role will also perform daily systems support related tasks while engaging in projects to further the organization’s goals.  
 


Major / Functional Responsibilities 
•    Maintain master data in procurement systems, which include SAP Ariba, SAP, and JDA.  
•    PO resolution including but not limited to invoice, credit and change requests.  
•    Support Category Managers with the creation of a variety of sourcing events (RFIs. RFPs, RFQs, etc.) Utilizing Ariba platform and provide appropriate analyses to support any proposed business recommendations. 
•    Customer administrator for SAP Ariba procurement and other assigned procurement systems (includes new user set up, profile maintenance and problem resolution).
•    Conduct training (formal / informal) as needed. 
•    Acts as primary back up to other procurement analyst positions as needed.

Category Management Support

  • Lead analysis and documentation support on spend analysis, cost savings, rebates, operational efficiencies, and supplier performance reviews
  • Populate monthly supplier scorecards and conduct quarterly business reviews using key performance indicators to track performance and gain improvements.
  • Support supplier payment terms/invoice resolution in adherence with policy
  • Analyze large data sets from SAP, Business Objects, and Ariba to extract pertinent information in support of decision making by category managers
  • Support analysis of pricing proposals, financial reports, and other data to validate supplier pricing and capabilities

 

New Product Introduction Support

  • Identify, source, qualify and set-up new raw materials for innovation and second sourcing opportunities.
  • Request and collect all documentation from suppliers for material and facility approval packets, including co-manufacturing ingredients.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with raw material suppliers and communicate quality requirements.
  • Lead weekly project meetings involving raw material approval status, facility approvals, form updates, samples, and process improvement.
  • Attend trade shows, supplier meetings, webinars, and seminars as appropriate to gain increased industry knowledge.


Decision Making/Problem Solving
•    Prioritize and escalate tasks (as appropriate) in time to ensure project deadlines are met or risk mitigated. 
•    Ability to collect relevant information regarding an issue and communicate a cost/benefit analyses along with a recommendation for management review.
•    Perform due diligence to determine categories and potential suppliers requiring strategic sourcing.

 

Education Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Finance, or related field preferred.

 

Experience

  • Zero to two years’ experience in strategic sourcing, contract negotiations, or commensurate experience.

Other Experience
•    Self-starter who can operate with minimal supervision.  Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize assignments under tight deadlines
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  
•    Intellectual Inquisitiveness:  Must be comfortable working within ambiguity, spotting outliers / discrepancies in data or process and asking appropriate probing questions to reach resolution.
•    Numerical literacy – ability to work with price and quantity calculations for US and Non-US based currencies.  Must be able to work with metric and traditional systems. 
•    Escalation Management: must have a good sense for when and how to involve management in issues to make best use of Glanbia and Supplier resources
