Customer Analyst

The Customer Analyst supports the organization’s sales activities of the FDMN (Food, Drug, Mass, Natural) channel.  Responsible for assisting in the customer selling process by leveraging multiple data sources and insights to craft winning stories to use in customer engagements across the family of GPN Brands. Also supports the key sales leaders with ad hoc analysis and deep dive analysis to find opportunities within customers and markets.  The role is responsible for advising & supporting the sales team as they tackle the growth of various categories and customers through fact-based decision making on product assortment/mix, shelf placement all driven by deep insights at the shopper and category level.

This position reports to the VP Sales FDMN.


Essential Functions:


  • Supports the sales team with what they need to drive meaningful category building joint business plans with the customer, all while executing Glanbia’s AMPSs guidance (assortment/merchandising/pricing/shelving guidance).
  • Deep dive analysis into the data to derive key insights for top customers that will help the category management team inform management of annual JBP and identify opportunities for future joint value creation.
  • Mine shopper/panel data to help deliver compelling customer selling stories, particularly in support of major line review engagements for top customers.
  • Become proficient with and leverage customer POS and shopper data (i.e. Kroger Stratum, Target POL, Walgreens RSI, etc.)  to inform team members and support decision making
  • Support the sales organization with ad-hoc analytical and reporting support including post promotion analysis
  • Gather & utilize intelligence of product categories, segments, sub-categories, types, sizes/formats, pricing, product sales information, competitive products and sales information


Experience and Education:

  • 2-4 years Sales analytics experience supporting customer selling story development.  Category management experience is preferred.
  • Bachelors degree is buiness or related field
  • Should have strong working knowledge of large format retailers (Food/Drug/Mass/Natural)
  • Ideal candidate has experience in the consumer packaged goods food and/or beverage space
  • Experience with syndicated data mining (i.e. SPINS, Nielsen, IRI) and Customer POS & shopper databases (i.e. Kroger 84.51/Stratum, Whole Foods dunnhumby)
  • Solid analytical skills and acute attention to detail and sense of curiosity
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and exceptional drive for results
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; must be able to present data in an organized manner with advanced skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point or Data Visualization tools/software
  • This position is ideally based in Downers Grove, IL but we will consider remote locations near major customer hubs (Cincinnati, Boise, Minneapolis, Austin, etc.)
