Customer Marketing Manager - Field Sales

The GPN Customer Marketing team is growing and looking for someone with interest and passion for the sports nutrition/fitness/wellness industry. This individual will work on and support our Field Sales, Retail Gym & Distributor business. This exciting new role will champion our channel and customer specific marketing activation programs. The successful candidate will have broad experience analyzing consumer/customer insights and creating and executing account specific shopper marketing activation programs (in-store & online) to achieve increased revenue, brand equity and enhance customer relationships.

 

The CMM will have fun creating and developing defined shopper related marketing plans as well as collaborates on the development, activation and execution of strategies for all brands (Optimum Nutrition, BSN & Isopure) across assigned accounts. Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Drive brand marketing and shopper marketing program execution within your channel of customers. Coordinate with various departments on specific programs and timelines to ensure execution with excellence.
  • Act as a liaison between brand, customer, and sales team including the coordination and alignment of marketing promotions with sales promotions to ensure a cohesive and complete customer marketing program.
  • Understand overall marketing initiatives and identify customer specific actions to support and ensure targets and results are achieved.
  • Responsible for identifying how to capture share of consumption occasions in the Field/Distributor accounts:
    • Deliver against brand strategy across all channels
    • Deploy customer Selling tools and education (Plan on a Page)
    • Scorecard and execution tracking
    • POS Vender Management
    • Deliver against POS needs across accounts
    • Develop and share out post campaign analysis report with key stakeholders to identify successes and areas for improvement in future campaigns/programs.  Monitor, report & optimize all marketing campaigns to ensure ROI and MAC metrics are achieved
  • Work with analyst group to determine program results and monitor sales/margin effect of customer specific marketing actions
  • Work with Sale Ops group to understand program spending for key accounts to determine true program value. Aid and assist in promotional ROI analysis and make recommendations for optimizing promotional calendar across brands and accounts
  • Develops AMPS (assortment, merchandising, pricing and shelving) guidance and playbook materials, identifying areas of sales opportunity and focus in HQ.
  • Work with analyst group determine assortment gaps and drive gap closures by formulating fact-based selling approaches for the sales leads
  • Lead the planning, development, and roll-out of new items/pack sizes with sales team & marketing
  • Lead the planning, development, and roll-out of demos for all products
  • Lead the planning, development, and roll-out of merchandising for all products (POS/Display materials)
  • Work with sales leads to understand incremental merchandising opportunities and develop plans to acquire those opportunities and manage the cost of those opportunities with budgetary diligence
  • Own development, management and implementation of all pricing on all products within assigned accounts
  • Own, in collaboration with sales, the development, planning, and execution of all promotions on all brands at within assigned customers
  • Co-ordinate forecasting for all new item launches in assigned channel
  • Develops new product launch program initiatives between sales and marketing, serving as commercialization liaison between sales and the rest of the organization.
  • Works with marketing to create all new product & marketing update decks for sales teams, as well as joint business planning decks for top to top meetings when they occur
  • Regularly attend customer meetings at sales request
  • Stays abreast of new business developments, trends, and competitor customer marketing programs
  • Ensures trade spend is executed on budget & makes recommendations to senior management for incremental spend when needed on the basis of analytics and ROI in collaboration with the sales lead.
  • Work with marketing brand management to formulate sales and merchandising materials.
  • Collaborate with all cross-functional teams, serving as the single point of contact and spokesperson for sales in internal facing discussions. Works to execute cross-functionally aligned plans externally with account leads.
  • Lead coordinator of all product launch needs and requirements for the sales department
  • Assist in the development and training of direct reports where applicable.
  • Play a lead role in the NPD Stage Gate process:
    • Gathers all necessary NPD product set up information
    • Coordinates timing of launches with Field Sales team
    • Distributes all pertinent info to sales team

 

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience.
    • Ideally, 5+ years consumer or account specific (customer) sales/marketing experience in CPG/retail/consumer focused industries.
    • Brand, consumer, and trade marketing (commercialization) experience from CPG, retail environments preferred.
    • Solid leadership skills in managing/influencing teams and implementing key business initiatives.
    • Ability to comprehensively understand and convert consumer, category, competitor, and channel/customer insights into sales/marketing strategy/plans.
    • Effectively applies knowledge of business drivers to identify key indicators including budget development and tracking, and demand/financial forecasting.
    • Must have strong analytical abilities and translate insights into strategic and tactical plans.
    • Proficient in Microsoft applications Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
