Demand Planner

Job Summary:

  • The Demand Planner’s primary responsibility is to service the assigned key accounts/Categories by developing and maintaining a collaborative forecasting process.

  

Essential Functions:

  • Develop and maintain the 12 month rolling forecasts for key customers. This forecast will be revised and analyzed as often as needed.
  • Participate in Monthly Demand Planning Consensus meetings.
  • Develop and track key forecasting KPI’s such as fill rate and forecast accuracy on a weekly/monthly basis for their assigned accounts.
  • Work closely with internal sales team as well as key customer representatives in the development of the collaborative forecast.
  • Primary supply chain contact for key customers.
  • Conduct current and future forecasting analysis, insuring forecasting processes and methods are followed.
  • Assemble and analyze all data pertinent to creating the sales forecasting (historical sales, market trends, seasonality, promotions, and eventually tier 1 account POS and inventory levels.
  • Establish and utilize best practices (statistical models and software tools) in creating forecasts.
  • Make recommended adjustments to forecast based on changes in demand and market trends.
  • Work with Supply Planning team to develop DOH targets based on current product performance.
  • Work with Sales and Supply Planning to develop allocation plan when necessary.
  • Work with fulfillment team on a weekly basis to ensure that customers are meeting their forecasted targets for the month.
  • Act as lead contact for their accounts with Sales and Supply Planning to determine the product availability or timing of new promotions or opportunities that were not previously included in the forecast.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:   

  • Strong analytical capabilities
  • Strong knowledge of Demand Planning process within Consumer Packaged Goods Industry
  • Knowledge of demand management/forecasting tools, forecasting processes in Sales, Marketing, Operations, Finance, Manufacturing and Supply Chain issues
  • Exceptional analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills and good command of Excel spreadsheets and S&OP software applications
  • Good communication and team building skills
  • Detail oriented and well organized
  • Extensive spreadsheet analysis and strong mathematical abilities

 

Education/Experience:

  • Degree or equivalent experience: Bachelor degree in Accounting, Business, Supply Chain Management or related area; previous experience working directly with trade partners and sales team in the Consumer Packaged Goods Industry.
  • Years of experience: a minimum of 4-8 years of Demand Planning or related experience
  • APICS/IBF Certification a plus.
