Job/Project Summary: The Finance Intern will learn and further their understanding around the FP&A (financial planning and analysis) function through exposure to multiple FP&A areas within a large global CPG company. The Finance Intern will have the opportunity to work on a wide-range of areas within the GPN North America Sports Nutrition segment including, but not limited to, month-end reporting, forecasting, and ad-hoc analysis around GPN’s Gross Revenue (product shipments), Trade Spend (discounts, deductions and allowance), and Operating Expenses (selling costs, general & administrative costs, and research and development costs). While formally reporting to the Director of FP&A, the Finance Intern will work directly with multiple individuals within the finance department.

 

Learning Objectives: The Finance Intern will learn about the FP&A process at GPN and the various FP&A functions that fall within the finance department. Furthermore, the Finance Intern will learn about GPN culture, GPN organizational structure, products sold, and the Company’s route-to-market.

 

Expected Outcomes: By the end of the internship, the Finance Intern will have a high-level understanding of how a CPG FP&A department functions and how the FP&A function fits and works within the overall Company structure. Additionally, the Finance Intern will have a high-level understanding for how GPN forecasts and analyzes Shipments, Trade Spend, and its Operating Expenses.

 

Job Responsibilities (listed in order of importance and/or time spent): The Finance Intern will be responsible for assisting individuals within the finance department across various FP&A-related tasks and analysis. Ultimately, the Finance Intern will be expected to work on an ad-hoc basis across different areas which will be best achieved through maintaining a good attitude and strong willingness to learn.

 

Minimum Qualifications: Working towards earning a bachelor’s degree at an accredited university. Prior exposure and experience with Microsoft Excel, Power Point, and Word strongly preferred.
