New Product Coordinator

General Summary: This is a cross-functional position, with persistent contributions to the overall bottom-line and goals of management for raw material approvals within the Purchasing Department.  A key contributor and liaison among Category Specialists, R&D, QA, Marketing, Supply Chain, Legal, and Regulatory to ensure timely execution of new product launches. Communicate project status on raw material approvals while balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. The following job description represents the minimum requirements to achieve a successful level expected for the position of the New Product Coordinator.



  • Source, qualify and set-up new raw materials for new products and second sourcing opportunities for branded, contract and international R&D teams.
  • Request and collect all documentation from suppliers for material and facility approval packets, including co-manufacturing ingredients.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with all suppliers and communicate quality requirements.
  • Constant interaction and consultation with appropriate Category Specialist for guidance on Preferred Suppliers, navigate lowest total cost, suggest cost reduction opportunities, review Bill of Material’s and make recommendations to reduce raw material supply risks and create an ease of transition from the product development team to manufacturing team.
  • Initiate Non-Disclosure agreements and licensing agreements.
  • Prepare weekly status update reports.
  • Participate in weekly project priority meetings involving raw material approval status, facility approvals, form updates, samples, and process improvement.
  • Create new and more efficient strategies for tracking data, SOP's, training opportunities and enhance current processes that will offer consistent results.
  • Collect, report and analyze data as needed for Director of Procurement.
  • Attend trade shows, supplier meetings, webinars and seminars.
  • Partners with Marketing, R&D, and Quality for all GPN brands to understand product functionality, timing and requirements for projects.
  • Work directly with Suppliers to ratify technical specifications alongside R&D and QA.


Experience, Skills, Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with supplement manufacturing, suppliers and ingredients as a whole is preferred but not required
  • Able to work in a results-based and fast-paced environment, with minimal supervision
  • Excellent computer skills including advanced Excel and Microsoft Office
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Strong team building skills
  • Demonstrated organizational, multi-tasking sand problem solving skills
  • Easily adapts to change and dealing with ambiguity
