Required Skills:

  • Develop a working understanding of Research and Development, Applications and Innovations Processes related to the business
  • Learn to perform in a fast paced corporate environment from concept meetings to formulation to final production.
  • Will help gain early knowledge of sports nutrition supplement industry as a whole by instruction and by experience.
  • Develop a working understanding of business and technical processes related to New product Development
  • Develop People Management and people skill sets appropriate for Business Interfacing
  • Communication skills in order to work effectively with other departments


Expected Outcomes:

  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast and fluid corporate environment while learning the latest Product Development tools and techniques that are unique to our R&D department’s needs.
  • Familiarization with general product formulation skills and process and gains a basic understanding of the R&D department’s role at GPN.
  • To gain a better understanding of a career in New Product Development within the Food/Supplement Industry
  • Develop critical thinking and hands on experience in the R&D nutrition field.


Job Responsibilities

  • Will work closely and provide assistance to Food Technologists and Product Development Teams
  • Create Lab prototypes across a variety of product formats, in accordance to customers (internal and external) requests and target deadlines.
  • Monitors projects through all phases of development and production.
  • Record and analyze data in relation to raw materials, finished products etc.
  • Adheres to cost and time constraints.
  • Present new ideas to members of the team.
  • Research new technologies and processes that can improve current operations


Basic Qualifications:

  • In the process of actively pursuing an undergraduate degree in Nutrition, Food Science, sports physiology, biochemistry, biological sciences,  or similar discipline.
  • Experience building and maintaining relationships within a team.
  • Clear written communication and strong interpersonal skills. Good Organizational skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • General math aptitude and logic.
  • Must be able work within the Illinois area.
  • Be able to commit 40 hours a week
  • Commit to starting June 4th - August 12th.
