SAP Master Data Specialist I

The SAP Data Specialist will be responsible for managing workflows and requests for material master creation, changes and maintenance with respect to company processes and procedures. This position is the focal point for data maintenance and requires collaboration with cross functional departments to develop master data business rules and processes that support operational efficiency through the organization. 

  • This position currently sits near food and analytical labs where all food allergens (milk, soy, nuts, wheat, egg, shellfish, etc.) are present.


Essential Functions

  • Coordinate material master data setup and validations with applicable cross functional departments ensuring data quality and integrity is maintained.
  • Create and update Bill of Materials in SAP based on new requests resulting from NPI projects as well as ongoing change requests due to formulation and packaging changes to ensure compliance with applicable regulations (e.g. 21 CFR, sections 109,110 and 1110).
  • Execute changes to SAP Master Data (customer, material, BOM, routing, supplier level etc) as approved by the business to create, change, delete, extend, flag for deletion or otherwise noted.
  • Assist in ongoing and periodic maintenance of material master data to ensure data quality and compliance.
  • Work with business units and appropriate team members to resolve Master Data issues in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Assist in defining and implementing Master Data processes and SOPs to ensure data quality and integrity.
  • Assist in testing change requests affecting master data in the development system.
  • Assist in creating templates to be used for data requests.
  • Raise issues and risks to appropriate team members relating to Master Data and potential adverse impacts to the business.
  • Effectively expresses one’s self in individual and group situations at all levels of the organizational structure.

  • Bill of Material (CS01), Item Creation (MM01), & Routing Notes (CA01) Transactions
  • Process orientation

  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook

 Decision Making/ Problem Solving:

  • Prioritize workload based on needs of the R&D and Manufacturing team needs.
  • Identify potential improvements in the work flow or data management.



  • Bachelor’s Degree from a 4 year college or accredited university preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of SAP Experience or comparable MRP/ERP software is required.
