Job Description

The Quality Operations Manager reports to the Site Quality Head as part of the Quality Operations team. The overall purpose of this role is to embed and sustain Quality and Food Safety policies across all operations. This is a lead role in driving a ‘right first time’ culture and performance in the plant by ensuring that processes and operations meet customer and regulatory requirements. A key deliverable will be reducing the occurrence of defects against quality standard, across all functions. The role will involve collaboration with all stakeholders to continuously improve performance to our quality standard and to drive all quality-relevant CAPA (corrective and preventative actions) to timely and effective completion.


Key Responsibilities

  • Implement the GI Quality Strategy in your area in line with the Quality Management System (GQS)
  • As Quality Operations Manager adhere to site-wide KPIs relating to: Quality, Continuous Improvement, Regulatory Compliance
  • Drive a strong Quality culture within the plant.
  • Play a key role in planning and participating in Plant audits with customers, regulatory and other third parties
  • Maintain customer product specifications / certifications and final product grading
  • Be a point of contact for Customers for product/process-specific quality support
  • Work collaboratively with Operations and Production Management teams to ensure quality operations requirements are fully resourced to deliver on plant in- process, sampling and testing schedules
  • Responsible for the efficient sampling and testing of designated raw materials, intermediates and finished goods in accordance with defined test schedules (internal & external testing).
  • Provide support for production trials, root cause analysis and improvement projects as required
  • Oversight and support of the plant RCA’s, effective CAPA implementation and verification for all process deviations
  • Accountable for delivering a robust hygiene monitoring programme
  • Accountable for change control of quality aspects of Operations
  • Support the utilisation and deployment of LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System)


Key Requirements:

  • Third level degree minimum in the Sciences, Engineering or Process disciplines.
  • Role-relevant experience in a large Dairy, Food or Pharmaceutical company in Quality Assurance, Food Safety & Process Improvement in a quality / operational environment
  • A track record in process improvement activity, ideally from the quality perspective.
  • Strong problem solving skills and experience in applying the principles of Lean
  • Strong team-working and communication skills.
  • Aptitude for operational processes, working with cross- functional teams, Lean and continuous improvement
  • Experience in Auditing and facilitating Corrective Action, preferably in a Dairy / Food production environment
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Office suite & ideally a working knowledge of SAP/LIMS)
