Quality Operations Manager (Liquid Milk Plant)

Primary Functions

Reporting to the Site Quality Head, the overall purpose of this new role is to embed and sustain the Quality and Food Safety policies across Operations. A key deliverable of Quality will be in reducing the occurrence of defects against the Quality Standard across all functions. This is a lead role in driving a ‘Right First Time’ culture and performance in the plant by ensuring that processes and operations meet customer requirements. The role will involve collaboration with all functions to continuously improve performance to quality standard and to drive all CAPA (corrective and preventative actions) to timely completion.



Key Responsibilities

  • Implement GI Quality Strategy in line with the Quality Management System (GQS)
  • As Quality Operations Manager adhere to the implemented site-wide KPIs relating to: Quality, Continuous Improvement, Regulatory Compliance
  • Drive a strong Quality culture within the site
  • Through the provision of quality data to ensure that all processes within the quality Operations remit comply with the Quality Management System
  • Play a key role in planning and participating in Plant audits with customers and other third parties
  • Work collaboratively with the Plant Production Manager and team to ensure quality operations requirements are fully resourced at a shift level to deliver on plant in process, sampling and testing schedules
  • Oversight and support of the site/area RCA’s for all process deviations
  • Ensure effective CAPA implementation and verification
  • Maintain customer product specifications / certifications and support final product grading
  • Ensure employees are trained to the appropriate standard to carry out their full range of  quality related duties in Operations
  • Audit quality practices and processes within the site focusing on the prevention of deviations
  • As part of the GI Quality community input to on-going development of best in class standards across the wider GI organization.


Key Requirements:

  • Third level qualification in Food Science or related discipline and have a minimum 3 years relevant experience within the food industry.
  • BRC / GSFI Food Safety Certification, HACCP,  Food Service and Retailer Codes of Practices and food manufacturing knowledge is essential
  • Aptitude for operational processes, working with cross- functional teams, Lean and continuous improvement & experience in Auditing and facilitating Corrective Action,  in a  Food production environment.
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Office suite etc.)
  • Possesses motivational skills oriented towards encouraging people’s best performance possible
