The Opportunity

 

Glanbia plc is seeking to recruit for the position of Senior Category Manager with responsibility for procurement of IT (Global), Professional & Business Services. This is a permanent opportunity and will report to the Procurement Operations Manager.

 

While likely to be initially working remotely due to current restrictions, the base location of the role will be Citywest, Dublin 24 OR Kilkenny, upon return to the workplace with a blended working arrangement available through our Smart working model which allows you a greater choice in how you work and live, giving you a better work-life balance.

 

This is a senior role within Glanbia’s Group procurement team which services the procurement needs of Glanbia Ireland within the above named category areas and the Glanbia group globally for IT. The successful applicant will take the lead on developing, maintaining and executing effective procurement strategies for these categories in terms of service performance, quality, cost, innovation, sustainability and ethical sourcing.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide professional procurement expertise to deliver key business objectives (cost, delivery performance, risk mitigation, innovation, etc.) in the following areas:  
  • IT Hardware – desktop and server, IT software – licenses and maintenance support, IT contracted services – outsourced services, contracted support personnel etc., IT CAPEX solutions projects and Telecoms/data/mobile communication services
  • Business Services: Cleaning, Security, Laboratory Testing & Supplies, Pest Control, Office Supplies, H&S and First Aid, Travel
  • Professional Services: A full range of Legal and Marketing and related support services, Consultancy Services across all functions,
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders within the business unit (ELT, budget owners etc. in order to achieve BU and Group priorities.
  • Develop category strategies and manage relationships with all relevant BU stakeholders to ensure alignment and commitment to implementation
  • Develop and manage key supplier relationships and maintain effective communication across all stakeholder groups to ensure full and early purchasing involvement, collaboration and foresight of potential issues.
  • Ensure that all Glanbia IT and Professional & Business Services vendors are approved, audited, capable and aligned with Glanbia’s procurement strategy.
  • Align with preferred vendors to develop and execute annual plans that will deliver Glanbia’s agenda in each category
  • Management of end to end vendor contracts process in line with Glanbia’s Global Procurement Policy.

  • On-going management and rationalisation of vendors across each category area to ensure consolidation of spend to preferred suppliers. 

 

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in a related discipline

 

Skills / Experience

  • Experienced Procurement professional with a minimum of 7 years’ experience within these or similar category areas.
  • Purchasing and vendor management experience in other categories is desirable.
  • Knowledge of business software, managed services and data networks is required.
  • Working knowledge of SAP, Ariba, purchasing tools and processes (e.g. catalogue and eProcurement) while not essential will be an advantage.
  • Financial understanding and credibility in the analysis and reporting of forecasts/budgets and compliance to policies.
