The role is a key member of the Accounting & Control Team, responsible for overseeing the day to day activities of the Irish based financial control team and for producing accurate and financial management accounts for EMEA. This role acts as a liaison between the EMEA Finance & Commercial teams and requires someone with strong Communication skills. Candidates for this role need to be self-motivated and highly organised. 

The opportunity where you will make an impact:

  • Preparation and Reviewer of Monthly Consolidated P&Ls and Balance Sheet for internal commercial reporting purposes and for Group consolidation.
  • Maintenance of financial ledgers and accounting processes, including responsibility for balance sheet integrity.
  • Owner of the financial modelling and analysis consolidation process for the region.
  • Cash management and treasury duties, liaising and engaging with Group Treasury function.
  • Ensuring that commercial and statutory financial reports are completed on time and being continuously developed to meet the changing demands of the business
  • Ensure that financial control is being operated to the highest standards in the business units.
  • Promote and maintain a rigorous control environment with appropriate level of documentation and controls compliance testing. Identify areas for control improvement and working with business partners to implement change to improve the control environment.
  • Ensuring compliance with all accounting, tax and legal requirements across the countries in the region.
  • Leading and developing the finance teams in the business units in terms of both their professional and personal development.
  • Assisting the Financial Controller International on the on-going development of the finance function in EMEA and its support of the commercial operations.
  • Implementation of financial control system and recruitment of resources into acquisitions.

 

Key Challenges & Success Measures:

  • Ensuring that processes, systems and controls are operating effectively across a rapidly expanding business and are implemented into new acquisitions
  • Managing tax and legal compliance across multiple jurisdictions in conjunction with both group departments and third party providers
  • Leading and managing finance teams in multiple locations
  • Continually developing the financial reporting of the commercial business to ensure that it is providing relevant and insightful information that drives decision making
  • Managing projects which require cross-functional and group participation in project teams

 

What you will bring to GPN:

  • Minimum 5+ years PQE experience in a senior role and multinational environment or fast moving and dynamic business
  • Proven experience operating in a Financial Control team – Large MNC preferably.
  • Excellent track record of developing/leading a high calibre team.
  • In depth knowledge of accounting and financial principles as well as technical accounting skills.
  • Results driven, must be able to engage with multiple stakeholders in particular working directly within/across international markets and within an FMCG environment.
  • Experience in managing, motivating and influencing in an environment of rapidly changing workload, tight deadlines, in the context of high client expectations and tight time frames. Ability to influence.
  • A self-starter who has the ability to work well within a team and across geographical boundaries.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical, good judgement making and logical decision maker.
  • Excellent written and verbal communicator.
  • Proven track record of stakeholder management
  • Proven ability of dealing with ambiguity.
