Principal Accountabilities (not definitive)

•  Responsible for all aspects of Logistics activities within Europe including warehousing, inbound and outbound transportation, rework and onward distribution

•  Provide subject matter expertise on network design, route to market, cost to serve and 3PL / Transport operational strategies

•  Ownership of data flows within EDI and on-line tools to maximise valid information flows between 3PLs and Glanbia

•  Actively promote and implement change management activities in order to maximise efficiencies within the network at optimum cost

•  Devise and manage the region’s  annual logistics spend within budget and deliver cost out benefits through regular benchmarking of all 3PL road sea and warehousing operations

•  Manage all on-site logistics operations at the GPN production facility in Middlesbrough with a particular focus on improved productivity /operational efficiencies

•  Manage all logistics services within the contract manufacturing European footprint, and product importation and exportation where required from non-EU locations

•  Champion I.T. systems enhancements (on SAP & external WMS) and other I.S. infrastructural development projects where appropriate to implement and leverage data integration and process optimisation across the entire network

•  Working closely with Legal and Group Tax, maintain ownership for trade and Customs & Excise compliance as well as ensuring contracts are drawn up in accordance with Glanbia standards

•  Ownership of all reconciliation and accuracy controls and reporting of all inventory and stocks within the network, ensuring tight alignment with Finance

•  Responsibility for all physical inventory movements and data entry on SAP to maintain accuracy; including management of all insurance activities and claims

•  Working with Procurement, Planning and Commercial teams to source and operationally manage all logistics vendor partners to secure and drive best in class performance

•  Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders

•  Provide leadership, coaching and development to direct reports

Key Challenges: 

• Ability to maintain excellent service levels across all markets

• Handle multiple priorities on a day to day basis including problem solving

• Recurrent challenging of the norms in the Logistics operation to restlessly pursue a better way to deliver service

• Maintain 3PL spend within budget without compromising service

• A clear understanding of customer needs and requirements

• Building and growing strong internal and external stakeholder collaborative relationships

• Building and developing a high performing team across the region


Skills, Know How and Experience:
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Senior Manager/Head of Logistics/ Logistics Director role within a European/International FMCG environment

• Excellent team leadership and participation skills

• Relevant qualification in supply chain management/logistics is desirable

• Proven results in step change improvements within a multi node logistics environment

• Ability to analyse processes and procedures and implement continuous improvements

• Strong communication skills with excellent stakeholder management skills to help build relationships internally and externally

• Expert knowledge of SAP functionality

• Very strong Microsoft Excel skills for data manipulation analysis, coupled with MS PowerPoint skills to support effective communication

• Results orientated and a creative problem solver
