Finance SSC Quality Control & Process Optimization Manager


Due to continued growth, an opportunity has arisen for a Finance SSC Quality Control & Process Optimization Manager at Glanbia Business Services (GBS), based in either Dungarvan or Kilkenny. This is a permanent position and will report to the SSC Director EMEA but will have responsibility for SSC EMEA and SSC North America.


Key Elements of the Role

Quality Control

  • Identification and documentation of key financial controls across all areas of the SSC including design and development of control frameworks aligned with group policy
  • Defining how the performance of key controls is evidenced and implementing a compliance monitoring process to ensure the on-going effective operation of key controls across all areas of the SSC (Shared Services Centre) ensuring that key controls remain adequate in a changing risk environment through risk assessment and benchmarking
  • Being the point of contact/co-ordination for all SSC audits performed  by Internal Audit
  • Ensuring that control weaknesses are addressed on a timely basis including working with the SAP FI/CO Team on systems development to enhance the control environment to ensure successful external audits
  • Development of KPIs across all areas of the SSC and managing an ongoing engagement with the business on performance of the SSC at regular business reviews
  • Maintenance of pricing and SLA agreements for the SSC
  • Design and implementation of improvements to internal controls in respect of significant financial processes


Process Optimization

  • Design and implement new processes along with re-engineering existing processes to drive continuous improvement and ensure processes meet business objectives as efficiently as possible. Lead projects to drive any such improvements. (“Sustainable, repeatable and reliable.”)
  • Support SSC Management and teams on the standardization and optimization of finance processes following the integration of new business arising from group M&A activity
  • Review and lead the implementation of new technology solutions
  • Automate and digitize existing processes to maximize efficiencies and minimize costs
  • Manage the roll-out of new services in to SSC in conjunction with the Senior Finance Manager - FS
  • Manage  the integration of new entities as the SSC wins new internal business in conjunction with the Senior Finance Manager - FS
  • Manage  the integration of new companies due to acquisitions
  • Disseminate best practice and influence stakeholders at all levels



  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) essential
  • Degree in a relevant discipline beneficial


Skills & Experience

  • 5 or more years of relevant post qualification experience ideally obtained in a SSC environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to engage and influence stakeholders in the SSC and the business
  • Big 4/large practice or multinational graduate program training or similar experience preferred
  • Big 4/large practice Audit Management level background or Internal Audit background in a large multinational environment.
  • Experience of Internal Controls and Sarbanes Oxley desirable
  • SAP experience and experience of business process automation in a shared service environment highly desirable
  • Business Analysis and process mapping experience
  • A commercial outlook to develop well founded businesses cases to influence change
  • Project Management experience
  • Business Partnering experience
  • Excellent IT experience
  • Experience in working in an SSC environment (including on audit engagements)
  • Ideally demonstrated experience leading Finance Transformation/Process Improvement/Systems Implementation projects in a multinational SSC environment
