Job Summary

Provide strategic direction and leadership to engage entire plant operation in continuously improving Engagement, Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Costs.  Develop plant leadership team. Ensure daily management processes are built and sustained. 

 

Essential Functions

  • Create and maintain robust plant communication process.
  • Ensure plant operations teams meet production schedules.
  • Provide leadership and direction to all plant personnel through direct and indirect leadership and coaching.
  • Perform Salaried PDP process and provide feedback periodically on performance.
  • Utilize GPS processes, driving zero losses, and upholds the culture of Glanbia non-negotiables.
  • Ensure product quality and food safety by ensuring plant leadership sustains quality systems. ( HAACP, SQF, SOP, mock recalls, GMPs)
  • Ensure plant teams understand and sustain Glanbia facility standards.
  • Oversee plant safety programs to ensure the safety of all employees and products.
  • Respond to all customer complaints and sustain counter-measures through resolving true root cause.
  • Manage plant finances and inventories to meet or exceed budget.
  • Ensure plant teams understand and drive to root cause.  Be involved with and lead troubleshooting and problem solving exercises.
  • Ensure sustainable approach to adhere to full compliance to environmental permits and to all regulatory requirements.
  • Track and review throughput by maintaining robust review process.
  • Ensure effective communication process that drives sustained performance.
  • Ensure full application of Glanbia injury and near miss review process.
  • Initiate, investigate, and provide written documents for all plant CAPEX projects. Manage certain CAPEX projects from inception to completion.
  • Oversee development and ongoing sustainability of robust progressive maintenance program.
  • Active participation in project management through Early Management Pillar.
  • Continuous evaluation and implementation of process improvements utilizing TPM methodology defined in site GPS plans.
  • Maintain responsibilities with purchasing system.
     

Additional Functions

  • Participate in committees and meetings as they may arise.
  • May provide managerial capabilities for production managers, other plant managers and trucking manager in their absence.
  • Ensure after hours response in the event of plant outage and emergencies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
     

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from 4 year college or university; a minimum of seven years related experience and/or training
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Ability to read, analyzes, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiply projects simultaneously and delegate assignments to others.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
  • Understanding of TPM and similar continuous improvement methodologies.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly involves talking or listening and the use of hands and fingers.

  • Occasionally involves reaching with hands and arms, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling and taste or smell.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must have sufficient manual dexterity to reach and handle items, work with fingers and perceive attributes of objects and materials.
  • Involves moderate physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities of a primarily technical and administrative nature.
  • Must be able to decipher color, have peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust/focus and have distance vision.

 

Typical Environmental Conditions

  • May be exposed to loud noise levels (i.e. manufacturing equipment).
  • May be subject to areas of air-contamination, areas of high humidity, high heat, exposure to fumes and toxic chemicals and poorly illuminated areas.
  • May work above ground level where a possibility of fall exists and near moving mechanical parts.
     

Travel Requirements

    • Minimal overnight travel (up to 10%) by land and/or air
