Essential Functions

  • Principle responsibility for refrigeration, HVAC, steam, boilers, water supply, Air compressors, etc

  • Trouble shoots and repairs plant utility equipment and facilities

  • Performs general and preventative maintenance to assure minimal downtime

  • Maintains proper records, files, and necessary parts and supplies for all plant equipment or make known to appropriate people

  • Maintains maintenance logs on assigned shift

  • Ensures that department is clean and orderly at end of shift

  • Sees that company tools and equipment are maintained properly

  • Acts as an effective communication channel between production and maintenance

  • Ensures timely and proper completion of work orders

  • Promotes and exhibits strong Food Safety and Quality practices

  • Promotes and exhibits strong Sustainability practices

  • Promotes and exhibits strong Housekeeping practices

  • Must report Safety, Food Safety, and Quality, Sustainability and Housekeeping problems to direct supervisor immediately

  • Actively participate in teams and on projects to improve the metrics for given area of responsibility

  • Assist Autonomous Maintenance process in plant

  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Regular and timely attendance required


  • Working knowledge of processing equipment and plant facilities
  • Physical ability to perform assigned job
  • Self motivated, willing to accept responsibility, and make good decisions
  • Comprehension of pneumatics, hydraulics, instrumentation, boilers, etc.
  • License in HVAC, Water Treatment, Industrial Refrigeration or Boiler certification preferred
  • Requires skills in welding, electrical, troubleshooting, and maintenance & repair of all plant equipment
  • Requires basic computer skills (e-mail, MS Word, Excel)


  • Ability to operate (or learn to operate) necessary equipment
  • Excellent record required in safety, attendance, and punctuality
  • Ability to stand and walk the entire shift if needed
  • Ability to read and write instructions in English
  • Knowledge of the proper use of all cleaning chemicals
  • Must be able to work weekends, and overtime as required
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements for a manufacturing operation
  • Knowledge of USDA, FDA, SQF and customer requirements for a food manufacturing plant
  • Knowledge of Sustainability and EPA requirements for a manufacturing plant
