The role of Discount KAM is to execute the current Commercial Strategy for the Discount channel across the UK whilst shaping the future strategy to harness the growth of the channel.  This is a compelling opportunity for an experienced KAM to continue to grow their career in an exciting category, with significant scope for future growth. With the support of the channel head this role is tasked with leading the coordination and collaboration across multiple functional groups (sales, marketing, finance & supply chain) to ensure that objectives and goals of the channel are met.


The opportunity where you will make an impact:

  • Full channel P&L responsibility
  • Lead and shape the Discount channel strategy for the UK market
  • Deep understanding of key Discount customers and in tandem our industry, products and competitors
  • Innovative, solution focused mind set and ability to drive collaboration across different functional groups to achieve goals
  • Passion to make significant contributions to the GPN through continuous process & ways of working improvement
  • Execute short and long term strategies and activities consistent with GPN UK objectives
  • Allocates trade spend and resources where the investment has the highest payback with strategically important customers
  • Lead business planning and budget process for the Discount channel
  • To be a strong advocate for GPN, brands & services
  • To understand the customer, industry, products and competitors and have ideas on how to drive growth
  • To develop strong customer relationships within the structure of the business from commercial team, merchandising, operations and store managers
  • Work closely with customer marketing team to develop clear & implementable strategies for sales growth, through visibility, share, promotion
  • Strong analytical skills and experience using internal and external data sources (i.e. Nielsen, IRI, CPM, Sales Data)
  • Work with category management to secure GPN as THE go to supplier of sports nutrition products
  • Build strong relationships with key industry contacts
  • Represent GPN at customer events and forums
  • Identify any potential threats and implement corrective measures.
  • Build out and cost and appropriate promotional & support plans by customer
  • Work with demand forecasting, finance, customer service to ensure both internal & external needs are met
  • Input / influence marketing team to develop the best Sports Nutrition range available for specific customers
  • Sales / Demand forecasting for customers
  • Develop, agree and execute annual Joint Business Plans with accounts to deliver the required business growth & internal stretch plan


What you will bring to GPN:


  • Minimum 4+ years’ experience in a similar Commercial channel / environment
  • Must be able to demonstrate sales achievements from past experiences / employment
  • Ability to influence both cross functionally and at a senior level
  • Self- starter, highly motivated and ambitious
  • Ability to work to stretching targets in a dynamic industry
  • Highly numerate
  • Ability to plan effectively, but also think on their feet
  • High energy, high creativity but ability to work through the basics too
  • Results orientated
  • Strong interest in sport or health and fitness
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification
