Job Overview:          

The Advanced Analytical Senior Manager reports directly to the Head of Applied Research and is responsible to provide in-depth analytical support and direction for NPD projects and technical support projects. They will manage the Advanced Analytical agenda for Glanbia Ireland R&D to drive knowledge, motivation and engagement within the R&D team.  They will coordinate and manage the timely delivery of technical reports to internal and external stakeholders.  They will engage with third party analytical providers and act as a point of contact with the Glanbia Ireland Quality and Compliance function on analytical related topics. The successful candidate will be based in Ballyragget or Teagasc, Moorepark and will be required to travel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert analytical support and direction to the R&D teams e.g. in trouble shooting customer complaints, challenges during NPD
  • Proactively identify and deliver product improvement opportunities
  • Manage and lead the Advanced Analytical Manager, supporting their career progression, learning, development and training
  • Develop and build strong relationships with R&D Managers, Product Managers, Operations and  Quality & Compliance teams
  • Deliver technical reports etc. for key internal stakeholders as well as customers
  • R&D SPOC for Glanbia Ireland’s Quality and Compliance team on analytical related topics
  • Manage the analytical systems for R&D within Glanbia Ireland  and provide analytical guidance to Glanbia Ireland’s Nutrient Monitoring Programme
  • Glanbia Ireland’s R&D Technical point of contact with third party analytical providers
  • Keep technically abreast of relevant analytical developments in the field of dairy based products and translate to new opportunities and solutions for existing and new products

 

Key Requirements

  • 7 + years analytical experience in the food / dairy industry
  • Science based qualification – 3rd level Food Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry
  • Writing technical reports to include recommendations for the business
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good problem solving and critical thinking
  • Knowledge on food structure analyses
  • Prior experience in analytical techniques such as Chromatographic techniques; Electrophoresis, Rheometry, Microscopy – light, fluorescent  or confocal scanning laser, Heat Stability, Hydration/solubility assessment techniques
  • Demonstrate project management and exhibit aptitude for planning and delivering projects to completion
