Role Profile
As an Automation Engineer you will work within the site Engineering team in the largest multi-purpose integrated dairy plant in Europe, servicing the various manufacturing processes including Cheese, Butter, Milk & Whey protein powders
Your role will include supporting frontline operators and technicians to troubleshoot incidents and perform Root cause analysis including designing and implementing corrective and preventative actions.
Your role will also include working with the CAPEX project engineering team to scope, design, build and commission projects from small upgrades to multimillion euro investments.
Key Responsibilities
- Programming, implementation and documentation of changes to the process automation code and systems hardware.
- Providing automation support to production, including troubleshooting and issue resolution.
- Working with the CAPEX project engineering team to scope, design, build and commission projects from small upgrades to multimillion euro investments.
- Working with System Integrators, OEMs and Product vendors and Specialists to investigate new technologies and upgrade opportunities.
- Work within a cross functional multidiscipline team environment and support other functions in driving performance improvements across sites
- Develop the site process automation system as part of the site automation team
- Working with IT to continuously improve our cybersecurity stance and enable our vision for Factory of the Future.
- Manage process automation interfacing with MES, ERP & IT systems.
- Managing security on OT and IT systems relating to the process networks.
- Managing 3rd Party service providers to ensure secure remote support.
- Manage all automation related change through Tirlán’s Change Control procedures.
Key Requirements
- 5+ year’s experience in programming within large scale process manufacturing, preferably in the Dairy, Food & Beverage or Pharma industry.
- Experience with DCS, SCADA, and HMIs
- ABB SattLine, 800xA, Wonderware Intouch and Ignition an advantage or similiar
- PLC experience e.g. Allen Bradley , Siemens , ABB ….
- Knowledge of instrumentation configuration e.g. Flow meters, Conductivity meters, Motor Variable Speed drives etc.
- Ability to read P&IDs and translate onto HMI screen
- Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills
- Good analytical skills
- Good decision-making ability
- Ability to work individually and also in a team as and when required
- Continuous improvement mindset
