Business Development Manager
Ancient Grains.

 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Business Development Manager to develop and support sales across the Ancient Grains (AG) portfolio within the European, US and Asian markets. The role will also maintain responsibility for managing existing relationships across the AG portfolio, liaising with internal colleagues to deliver customers' requirements around supply, quality and new product applications.

The role will be based in Europe with extensive European travel and some US travel required.


Key Responsibilities:

• Manage existing conventional and gluten free oatmeal/quinoa business and achieve the annual budget; nNegotiate contracts achieving best possible returns.
• Identify and achieve new sales/business growth objectives across Europe, US and Asia in line with strategy.
• Manage new product development pipeline with customers in coordination with quality/technical, supply chain and marketing functions; identify new business opportunities.
• Quotations issuing, contract administration, samples requests, lead management and customer follow ups as required.
• Collate and present market intelligence, emerging trends and research, competitor analysis and market pricing information.
• Development of a business strategy and growth plan (5 years) for the portfolio and for your key customers; Identify strategic opportunities and define short - medium-term priorities.
• Communication; All relevant customer facing communications, preparation of internal reports, business development reviews (KPI variance and recovery plans) and customer/market sector bespoke reports as required.  

 

Key Requirements:

• Degree level in Business / Commerce / Food science or other similar third level qualification.
• Proven 5+ years' experience in a similar role for the business development and sales of B2B grains/food ingredients or similar. Previous experience with grain product development sales/development a distinct advantage.
• Ability to provide technical support to customers and present potential applications of our range of wholeseed, flakes and flours into their product formulations
• Ability to close the full sales cycle from lead generation to contracting.
• Ability to develop relationships with key influencers and decision makers at customer level (Key Account management) and within the Glanbia business.
• Conversational French, Spanish or German is an advantage.
• Excellent time management skills and ability to manage your diary effectively and work autonomously.
• Previous experience in data-management and information sharing via a CRM platform.
• Experience of product planning via a SAP based IT platform.
• Excellent sales, negotiation and presentation skills
• Resilient, resourceful with a solutions mindset
• Proactive, flexible and results focused.
• Full clean driving licence
