Employee Communications and Engagement Manager


Glanbia has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual with a passion for internal communications and employee engagement. This position for now is remote, but will be primarily based in either Citywest, Dublin 24 or Kilkenny, with approx. 10% international travel when permitted.



This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual to further their career and make a real difference on a global stage.  As an Employee Communications & Engagement Manager, you will report to and work closely with our Head of Employee Engagement in executing our Communications and Engagement strategy, to drive a values led and inclusive culture, and engaging employee experience.


Key Elements of the Role

  • Work closely with our Head of Employee Engagement and relevant BU stakeholders to bring our purpose, vision and values to life by developing and executing employee engagement and culture building initiatives globally.
  • Develop and execute a compelling engagement programme that inspires and energises our people, including key D&I initiatives, employee recognition and awards, continuous listening, CSR and wellbeing programmes.
  • Cultivate and sustain positive relationships, and a strong global champion network, to ensure connection with emerging needs and effective delivery of our employee engagement strategy at local level. 
  • Work closely with our Head of Employee Engagement to create and execute innovative and compelling internal communications plans, and manage milestone communication events such as town halls and employee roadshows.  
  • Develop content for key communications channels and ensure that internal communication messages are consistent with external communication messages.
  • Craft stories to amplify employee engagement activities across multiple communication channels and develops mechanisms for supporting effective communication across a diverse employee base.
  • Draft messages or scripts for presentations and events in written and spoken form.
  • Partner with senior leadership groups on initiatives that require business communications to one or more groups and identifies opportunities to encourage two-way dialogue between leaders and employees.
  • Play a key role on wider global projects and employer branding activities related to the delivery of our EVP and effective employee attraction, onboarding and integration.
  • Support organisation transformation and change programmes.
  • Draw on latest thinking, research and insight in developing content and creating strategies and plans for engagement and communication.

Skills & Experience

  • Experienced at developing and executing clear, creative and impactful communications and engagement initiatives across a global organisation.
  • Strong relationship building skills, can quickly establish trust, collaborate and develop a strong internal and external network. 
  • Ability to communicate and influence at all levels and demonstrate both empathy and assertiveness when communicating.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and copy writing skills.  
  • Agility to be able to respond quickly to evolving business and people needs.
  • Ability to act as change agent, remains business-focused and commercially aware and demonstrate a big picture understanding of the business, its interrelationships, and priorities.
  • Proven ability to innovate, proactively finds a better way to engage and communicate with employees.
  • Resilient and solutions focused, able to navigate any challenges and solve critical or far-reaching problems that arise in an effective and respectful way. 
  • Decision making and critical thinking, can accurately analyse situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • Strong project management ability, can create and implement plans and adapt to changing priorities and timelines quickly and easily.
