An opportunity has arisen for a Financial Accountant within the Group Finance team in Glanbia Plc. This permanent position reports to the Corporate Reporting Manager.

Role Summary

The Financial Accountant’s responsibilities may vary depending on department requirements. The role will include preparation of monthly management accounts and head office forecasts and budgets, preparation of statutory accounts and assisting with published interim accounts and the annual report of Glanbia plc, in addition to, process improvement and development and ad hoc project work, as required.


The Corporate Reporting Team is responsible for the preparation of monthly management accounts for head office entities, maintenance of SAP ledgers for head office entities, preparation of head office forecasts & budgets, preparation of statutory accounts for certain entities and assisting in the preparation of interim & annual reports for Glanbia PLC.



The base location of the role will be Glanbia Head Office, Kilkenny, with hybrid working arrangements available through our Smart working model which allows you a greater choice in how you work and live, giving you a better work-life balance with a requirements for the successful candidate to be onsite with the team in Kilkenny 2 days per week.



Elements of the Role may include:

  • Preparation of head office monthly management accounts to strict deadlines
  • Day to day management of certain head office SAP ledgers
  • Preparation of head office forecasts & budgets to strict deadlines
  • Preparation of detailed reconciliations from the SAP nominal ledger to statutory accounts
  • Preparation of certain statutory accounts
  • Liaising with external auditors in respect of head office statutory entities
  • Preparation of various disclosures in Glanbia Plc’s interim accounts and annual report
  • On-going liaising with all key stakeholder groups to resolve system, process and accounting issues arising
  • Pro-active approach to ongoing process improvement and development to reflect changing and evolving needs
  • Other ad hoc finance project work as required



  • Recognised Professional Accounting Qualification required and retain membership of the relevant accounting body



Skills & Experience

  • 0 - 2 years relevant post qualification experience
  • Technically competent and good knowledge of IFRS
  • Knowledge of SAP and/or BCS would be an advantage
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure completeness and accuracy of information
  • Strong written communication and reporting ability with ability to communicate to stakeholders across various levels and functions
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to communicate and interact with people at all levels across the Group
  • Proficient Microsoft Office Excel and Microsoft Office Word skills
  • Self-motivated, proactive, ability to ensure tasks are finalised to strict deadlines
  • Enjoys working in a fast-paced, innovative environment where the focus is on continuous improvement and the challenge to make it better
