Glanbia Ireland owns leading consumer and agri brands such as Avonmore, Kilmeaden Cheese, Millac, Solmiko, Truly Grass Fed, Premier Milk, Wexford,,, and GAIN Animal Nutrition. 

This role works closely with the Feed Purchasing Manager and provides technical feed expertise and insights to inform raw material procurement decisions for the manufacture of GAIN Animal Nutrition. The role formulates, labels, and costs all feeds for the GAIN feed mills, and liaises with the Feed Sales and Feed Technical Managers on product range and nutrition, to ensure we meet customer expectation.  

This role is based on a hybrid working model located in Kilkenny


Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate GAIN Equine, Ruminant, Pig and Pet feeds to meet all specifications in line with customer needs
  • Manage all feed labelling including regulatory compliance for EU and export markets.
  • Manage and utilise the full portfolio of feed raw materials as per Sales & Operations plan (S&OP)
  • Identify and Source new and innovative feed technologies to support animal performance and sales growth from product development in line with Glanbia Sustainability Strategy
  • Maintain expertise in nutritional trends and keep up to date with regulatory changes
  • Work closely with Mill, Technical and Sales managers to scope new/revised feed range
  • Collaborate with Technical Development and central Quality & Compliance teams on supplier evaluation and selection
  • Liaise with relevant Technical & Milk Pool & Innovation teams on the development of GI sustainability/traceability programs to ensure viability and alignment with future procurement strategies
  • Represent GAIN Animal Nutrition with IGFA and other feed industry stakeholders across, Quality, Regulatory Compliance, Technical and Political Forums


Experience & Qualifications:

  • Experience of working in the animal nutrition industry
  • Third level degree Agriculture or Animal Science. A Post Graduate Qualification in Animal Nutrition will be advantageous
  • Good knowledge of EU feed legislation including labelling requirements. 
  • Experience of using feed formulation software
  • Good understanding of feed milling operations




  • Good communication skills with internal and external stakeholders
  • Precision and attention to detail with an emphasis on numeracy skills
  • Ability to work in a high-volume, fast paced production environment
  • Proven ability in planning, time management and reaching deadlines
  • Self-starter with flexibility to respond to issues promptly to maintain feed mill production.
  • Good appreciation of supply chain operations and logistics
  • A high level of initiative and motivation with the ability to adapt to change
  • A strong working knowledge of IT systems with the ability to learn other system
