Role Description: The Ruminant Technical Specialist will provide feed technical leadership and commercial support to our sales functions including Ruminant, Agronomy and across our Branch Network. The role reports directly to the Head of Ruminant and is based in our head office in Kilkenny embracing the hybrid working model.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide ruminant feed technical support to all stakeholders within GAIN Animal Nutrition team.
  • Co-design relevant animal nutrition solutions and holistic farm efficiency programs to support farm performance targets.
  • Work closely with procurement, feed production and the commercial functions to grow the GAIN brand technical reputation.
  • Manage feed price lists and communication of commercial offering with senior sales management team
  • Plan and execute GAIN technical ruminant feed campaigns to deliver market share gains in line with company strategy
  • Assist in GAIN product innovation and communication to farmer audiences to deliver farm efficiency improvements.
  • Lead out team training and coaching, to optimise staff expertise in GAIN Animal Nutrition.
  • Produce relevant promotional material to support ruminant feed and feeding.
  • Liaise with all farmer-facing teams to drive broader farm efficiency and sustainability target.

 

Key Requirements:

  • Practical, self-starter with proven ability to work and make effective decisions. 
  • Highly commercial and detail attentive, while being truly customer focussed.
  • Third level degree in Agriculture or Animal Science.
  • Knowledge of all farming systems with in-depth insights on dairy, beef, sheep and calf nutrition.
  • Experienced in customer consultation, staff training and coaching.
  • Flexible, solutions provider with marketing, presentation and media skills.
  • Organisational ability and agility, alongside planning and effective implementation.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, time management, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work effectively across teams, internally and externally.
  • A strong working knowledge of IT systems.
