Transport Coordinator (North East- Cavan, Monaghan, Louth, Meath and Northern Ireland)

Reporting to the Transport Coordination Manager this role is responsible for the effective co-ordination and realisation of the transport planning schedule through the haulier network base in line with the receiving sites and locations. This role will cover transport coordination activities the north eastern region of our business catchment area including Cavan, Monaghan, Louth, Meath and Northern Ireland.


Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure best in class transport services are provided, whilst protecting the commercial and legal best interests of Glanbia Ireland.
  • Be the point of contact for all hauliers, liaising daily to ensure they provide the service required at the level agreed, and also to ensure they have the tools required to fulfill their duties.
  • Ensure all hauliers are compliant and operating within current best practices in particular those outlined by the RSA, Department of Agriculture and anything pertaining to EH&S. 
  • Manage the on-boarding and setting up of any new hauliers.
  • Provide driver training program on a standard basis and when required to meet site requirements. Organize and facilitate outside training or accreditation as required. 
  • Update all systems in a timely manner to ensure the smooth running of the business.
  • Analyze reports, this would include routing reports, mileage usage, tachographs where relevant, truck maintenance reports, and other service reports and action any discrepancies arising from these reports.
  • Review the outputs of the telematics software to manage driver behavior and impact EH&S.
  • Deal with plants, suppliers and customers ensuring quality of service and managing any complaints or service issues/requests that might arise.
  • Suggest, review and implement improvements in relation to vehicle and equipment optimization.
  • Manage the cost associated with the transport activities associated with the transport used, and challenge the planning team where suboptimal plans have been deployed.
  • Review depot smoothing ensuring minimal waiting times and congestion at receiving sites.
  • Look for efficiencies, directing and supporting optimisation efforts in conjunction with the wider coordination team.
  • Be an effective agent in the 3M process, striving to implement and learn GPS tools where appropriate to enhance the services and processes


Key Requirements:

  • 3+ years experience in Transport activity management.
  • Ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in mediating disputes between two parties, impartially to a successful conclusion.
  • Results driven, performance capability in a fast moving business environment
