The Director Strategy – Glanbia Performance Nutrition (INTERNATIONAL) is a key Role within the International leadership team. The region, which includes the EU, OCEANIA, META, ASPAC & LATAM, has total annual sales in excess of $430m and has grown at c. 20% per year. The incumbent must be able to effectively manage the scale and pace of change/growth within the business.  This role leads strategic planning, business analysis and strategic business development for the region.  The role also works with Glanbia’s M&A resources to identify M&A targets and perform due diligence, integration analysis and planning.


The role provides day-to-day strategic and analysis leadership while coordinating the development and execution of effective growth and business development strategies. The director role will work closely with in-market commercial teams to develop market and competitive strategy recommendations to accelerate profitable growth.  The successful candidate must be a thought leader, able to develop and synthesize complex market and competitive information across multiple segments, markets and channels, identifying market trends and opportunities.  This role uses multiple data sources and inputs to identify and anticipate customer needs, transforming analysis into actionable recommendations for portfolio growth, market expansion, investment, or operational enhancement.  The Director role must effectively share ideas and work closely with fellow members of the International leadership team to evaluate strategic actions and establish priorities.


The Director Strategy works with country managers to identify new ventures (Mergers & Acquisitions) based on a strong understanding of the consumer and future market opportunities, alerting Glanbia’s M&A team to investigate their value. This role provides a crucial contribution to the realization of business objectives of the organization and plays a major role in the definition and achievement of the vision of the division.


This senior role requires leadership, communication, and presentation skills coupled with the ability to ensure exceptional execution of solid, fact-based analysis and business case development in a fast paced environment.  In addition to the responsibilities outlined above, the incumbent is involved with day-to-day commercial, operational and people issues and projects such as sales force effectiveness, organizational structure and near-term business planning.

  • Leading acquisition search and co-ordinating activities with central deal team
  • Managing assorted cross functional projects with no clear owner


QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE (required for role not incumbents)


  • A minimum of 10 years of Professional experience – which must include at least 4 years of Strategy experience gained either as a Strategy consultant or as a manager within an in-house strategy function
  • Strong analytical skills with the intelligence to develop clear insights for the business
  • Action-oriented individual, able to cut through clutter/ambiguity and quickly drive meaningful business results
  • Experience in strategically evaluating acquisition targets
  • Ability to structure, write and deliver clear and insightful communication materials
  • Strong Project management capability
  • Demonstrated ability to influence across all levels of the organisation
  • Happy to work on the details (roll-up sleeves) and on big-picture tasks
  • CPG and Retail experience
  • Past experience in Asian markets advantageous
  • Finance, Accountancy or Business Qualification (e.g. MBA) advantageous
  • Food/nutrition sector experience is a plus
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel
